• chapter nine •

This past week has been pretty busy and we've rarely had any down time due to all the exhibition games we've been playing and press. Luckily for us this was the last press conference of the week for us and after that we'd only have evening skates. Thank god because I actually really wanted to explore since it's been a while.

As we arrived to our press conference we couldn't help but notice that this one was different from the others. It was bigger and had seats for all of us. Which meant that this one would include them asking us all questions instead of just coach and Charlie, who was voted into captain.

Once we were all in our seats we began with basic introductions and same questions we're asked all the time.

"How is it to play in the games?"
"How are you guys enjoying California?"

That was until there was one specific question directed towards me, " Ana, being the only single girl on the team and there being some really attractive competitors, have you found any of them attractive? "

Everyone turned their attention to me, trying to contain their giggles, everyone but Adam who was looking everywhere else but at me. I really need to have a talk with him later because for best friends, he's been rather distant with me since we came for the games.

Going back to the question, I tried to think but couldn't recall anyone. Just when I was about to respond with my answer of it being no one, I was rudely interrupted by the coach of Iceland.

" What is she doing here? She can't even play hockey! "

Everyone turned their attention from him to me and were just waiting for one of us to respond until him and his team were escorted out of the press room to the hall. I quickly followed to see what was going on with the Ducks right behind me.

Once outside we all tried to get into it to try and settle it out. That wasn't the best idea we've had because it led all of us to start fighting. Me and Adam started arguing with sone guy named Stefan. I mean, he wasn't douchey like the rest of them, but I did not appreciate how loud he was getting with me. Adam eventually left my side to help push Charlie away from Iceland's captain who just didn't happen to be agreeing with our captain.

" Tell your captain to fuck off, he clearly can't handle the criticism my captain is giving him. ", Stefan said as he got closer to my face.
" Yeah, well tell your asshole of a captain that he needs to control his attitude before he gets decked in the face by me. "
" Oh sweetheart, you wouldn't even be able to hurt a fly. "
" Test me then. ", I challenged getting the closest I could without kissing the guy. As he stepped back, he looked me up and down while I did the same and I couldn't help but notice how attractive he was. I didn't realize I was still staring until he put a paper in my hand and he whispered in my ear, " Me. You. Date tomorrow. I'll pick you up. " As he pulled away he winked then returned to join the rest of his team as they were walking away from us.

" You okay Ana? ", Adam asked worriedly as he cane up to me, " I saw that Stefan guy get a little too close. "

I looked up into his eyes with a regretful look and nodded. Oh god, if Adam were to find out about my date then he'd kill me. He already basically hates this guy's guts so if he found out then he would hate me forever. I say I just sleep on it and see what I decide to do. When I got to my room I noticed Adam was already fast asleep. Seeing I got their way later than anyone else, so I quickly changed and went to lay in bed. Once I was in bed I quickly decided to text Stefan and told him to pick me up after my practice. Oh Adam, just please don't be mad at me.
