I scrambled up before rushing over towards him. I knelt beside him, checking his wound. I quickly opened up his tunic around his chest. The moment, I saw a charred black mark on his skin, I grimaced. This wasn't good.

"Abner, talk to me." I urged.

He let out a groan as his eyes fluttered open. He looked up at me. "My starbird..."

R8 finally reached us, letting out a few beeps, informing me he had arrived. I glared at him. "It's about time you show up. What took you so long? Were you hiding another secret?"

"Don't blame R8, he acted on my behalf. I told him not to say a word about me or your mother." Abner croaked out.

"I don't believe you're my father. You just show up after twenty something years and all of the sudden, you're interested in knowing me." I protested. "So where have you been all these years, huh?"

Abner let out a shaky breath. I let out a sigh, knowing he didn't have much time left. Despite being furious with Abner, I was determined to save him. I glanced over at R8. "R8, hand me the first aid."

"You can't save me, Ayla..." He trailed off, coughing up a storm.

"Of course I can. I didn't get a P.H.d in anatomy for nothing." I insisted.

R8 took out the first aid from his interior. I opened up the first aid, taking out some rubbing alcohol from the box along with a cloth. I was prepared to put it on Abner's wound, when he placed a hand over mine, stopping me.

"Listen to me, I don't make much time left. You need to get the child." He uttered.

I furrowed my brows. "What child?"

Abner slowly raised a hand up towards my forehead. He gave me a sympathetic look. "I'm so sorry, my starbird. I only did what I believed was the right thing. I hope one day you can forgive me."

Before I could ask what he meant, images began to appear in my head. Tears filled my eyes as I realized that those were actually memories. It was like the Framework all over again. I looked back at Abner, trying to process everything. He is actually my father. He kept his hand on my forehead, and I felt nothing but love and kindness for me. He wasn't lying...

"Father..." I whispered.

"I'm so sorry." He apologized. "I'm sorry I couldn't be the father you deserve."

"What about my mother?" I inquired.

His face fell. "Your mother's dead...She was killed along with the rest of her and your home planet...Alderaan."

My eyes widened. In A New Hope, Alderaan, that planet was blown up by the Empire. Could the same have happened? I mentally shook my head. No, there's no way those movies are entirely true, right?

"Ayla, please safe him. I promised to keep him safe from the Imperials. His last location known is Arvala-7." He persisted.

"What's so important about him?" I questioned.

"You will know once you meet him. I saved him....from being killed." He explained. "Now you save him, do this for me..."

I shook my head. "No, father, I can't...This isn't a good idea."

"You can do it, I know you can. Take my lightsaber, it'll help you. I'm proud of the woman who've become. I love you..." He trailed off.

I then saw the light leave his eyes. My heart clenched. I just lost my father. R8 let out a few sad beeps, keeping his gaze on my father. I then realized that R8 had known my father for a long while. My heart dropped, realizing something...I didn't create R8. I placed a hand over R8's head.
