Alas Trajano

Kabanata 36

Fiancee

I stared at the gold couple ring I bought earlier for this special occasion. The date today was engraved inside of it beside our initials. I can't help but to smile as I gently stroked her beautiful name with my thumb.

I can't believe that in just a matter of hour from now, she's finally going to be my wife. We're supposed to marry each other next month but I can't wait any longer. I already want her to be my better half, the woman who will carry my surname... my own Trajano.

My phone beeped, so sure that it's a reply from her.

My Amazona:

I love you, Alas. Always remember that.

I stared at her message, reading it a couple of times like it'd be the last time I'm going to receive this kind of message from her. I will surely receive a lot of texts from her telling me that she loves me for the rest of our lives.

At hindi ako magsasawa doon.

Still now, I can't believe that we will reach this far after of the way we met each other.

We were two broken souls who accidentally met on that bridge. Maybe our distorted pieces were what made us fit together, just like a puzzle. My Ania didn't also know that I am the one she has ever wanted and needed to make herself feel complete.

We were two broken souls who helped each other to be completed again. She's my soulmate. And so I am to her.

I took the ring she will wear in no time, brought it to my lips and kissed it. I closed my eyes, her pretty face suddenly flashed in my head like a sweet dream.

My chest suddenly felt tight like something isn't wrong. Or maybe, I'm just excited of what about to happen next.

My eyes searched for my friend who is a judge. He's staring at the dark sea, the calm waves can be heard as it slammed the seashore.

Tumayo ako naglakad palapit sa kaniya. I tapped his shoulder that made him look at me. He smiled, his wrinkled forehead creased a little.

"She's on her way."

"You really love her, huh?

"Let's wait for her then."

She's too stubborn to come here alone.
