I felt the sun warming my skin, quietly waking me for a new day.

I decided to open my eyes when I felt someone stirring besides me.

I saw Ethan who was fast asleep next to me and noticed we were laying on the bed in my room, he probably brought me here when I fell asleep during the movie.

I silently stood up and headed toward the door, hoping I didn't wake up Ethan.

I wanted to sneak out and look around the house, my curiosity got the best of me, but my plans were undermined when Cole stood in front of me

"Where do you think you're going?" he said with a determined look.

There was no way I could avoid the bed rest that my family imposed on me. I was not in favour of languishing alone for several days in bed where my only occupation is to feel sorry for myself.

"I- uhm." I couldn't think of a good excuse, not when he was intimidating me looking like this.

I think he noticed my change in behaviour because his expression softened.

I know he would never hurt me, nobody in my family would, they have showed me that enough these last days.

However, I couldn't help it.

"Back to bed little one," he said with a frown.

Ethan is suddenly standing behind me, I didn't even notice he was awake till he placed a kiss on my head and mumbled a good morning.

They shared a look with each other before Ethan excused himself and left the room. He probably wanted to eat or freshen up.

"Can I take a look at your injuries? I want to be sure your treatment is helping?" he carefully asked.

"Of course, but didn't you examine them yesterday? I mean you won't see any change I'm afraid," I nervously rambled.

I knew he already saw my injuries, but I wasn't aware when he did. It made me nervous to fully expose my darkest side to him. Showing him the damage Nick did was much worse than just telling them about it.

He looked sympathetic at me as if he could read my mind. I was never fantastic at hiding my thoughts and feelings, I had to keep everyone at bay to keep Nick's abuse a secret.

"It's okay to feel scared Luna, you don't have to hide your feelings. I just want to be sure your body is healing properly," Cole reassured me.

His words were all I needed to calm down a bit, I needed to trust him, even if it was something I hadn't done in a long time.

"Can I change clothes first?"

"Yeah, I will grab your medication and ointments while you're showering," he said with a smile.

I decided to wear a tank top and sweatpants since I had to lay in bed for the upcoming days. I sighed at the thought of unending boredom and loneliness.

I was laying back in bed, waiting for Cole to come back, staring at the frame on my night stand.

He was sitting on the edge of the bed as I lay and pulled my top so he could see the ribs.

He inundated me with questions like where it hurt the most, and then I understood why he wanted to examine me.

Not only to check the many injuries, but also to find out how much pain I was feeling, maybe even showing me my past didn't scare them off.

He gave my ankle a questioning look and I asked him what was wrong.

"I gave your ankle a supportive bandage yesterday."
