Kara had decided against recruiting Lena. She feared that Lena may question everything. Besides, Winn's help should be enough and if it were to come to it then she'd ask Lena.
She hadn't told Winn what had happened. She called him, requested his help if he wasn't busy and Winn agreed.
She'd have to keep him away from the DEO though, in case they would interrogate him or he'd spill something.
She heard a knock on her apartment door and immediately ran up to open it.
"Winn!" She smiled at her old friend, pulling him in for a hug.
"Hey Kara!" Winn said as the two parted from the embrace.
"Come in!" Kara said as she moved, leaving enough space for Winn to enter.
"So, not that I'm complaining, but why did you need my help? I mean, I'm glad to help but..." Winn asked as he sat on the couch, Kara sitting beside him.
"Winn, do you remember Barry Allen?" Kara asked. Winn sat in thought for a moment.
"Oh my god! The super cool, time travelling one! Of course I do! Man he is awesome. Why?" Winn squealed.
"Well... he left earth 38 a while ago to live here and-"
"Wait he's here? What? Where! I cannot wait to see my science bro"
"No, that's the thing Winn. I erm... I don't exactly know if he's still here-"
"He ran away? So you want me to make a human leash for speedy? For my friend? My bro?"
"If you'd let me finish, Barry... something happened and he sacrificed himself to save me when we were out together. We... we think he's dead. I erm... that was 6 months ago though" Kara sniffled at the painful memory.
"He died? I'm so sorry..." Winn apologised.
"Yea no, it... it's fine. Erm but I kinda need your help with something linked to that" Kara said as she subconsciously began playing with her necklace, something she had found herself doing often when she was nervous or sad.
"Yea, anything. What's up?" Winn asked.
"Well I think Barry is still alive-"
"You what?"
"Yea. I've seen him recently in my apartment but he speeds away whenever I catch him so I don't know if I'm hallucinating like everyone says or if it's really him. But I think it's really him because of all places, he comes here and it can't just be a coincidence-"
"Why would he run away from you though?"
"Th..that's what I want to know. I miss him" Kara said, wiping the single tear that had slipped from her eye.
"I mean, I can try help you but if you guys are certain that he's dead then I might hit a dead end pretty quickly."
"Something tells me he's not dead. Please, help me find him. Please" Kara's voice cracked.
"Yea, anything Kara."
"Oh and you cannot tell anyone about this. Especially Alex"
"You don't want Alex knowing? Why?"
"Well she already thinks I'm hallucinating and I'm going crazy and her girlfriend cannot handle me still talking about Barry."
"Alex has a girlfriend? And why can't she handle you talking about Barry"
"They were close"
"Oh. I mean yea, I won't say anything but do you wanna get to work on this? I wanna see if we can actually do this without hitting any dead ends. And again, I'm sorry Kara if he really is... gone. I know you guys only spoke a couple of times and became really close friends"
