February 20 every year, is observed as The United Nations' (UN) World Day of Social Justice.It is celebrated to encourage people to throw lights on how social justice affects poverty eradication. It also focuses on the objective of achieving full employment and support for social integration
World Day of Social Justice is also known as Social Justice Equality Day. Issues such as Poverty, Exclusion, Gender Equality, Unemployment, Human Rights, and Social Protections need efforts to be tackled and to promote social justice, the world day of Social justice is observed.
Many international and national organizations, including the UN, American Library Association (ALA), and the International Labour Organization, speaks about the importance of social justice for people. These organizations also come up with plans for greater social justice by tackling poverty, social and economic exclusion and unemployment.
On 26 November 2007, United Nations General Assembly declared to observe the World Day of Social Justice, starting in 2009 from the 63rd session of the assembly.
The Declaration focused on providing fair outcomes for all the people of society through employment, social protection, social dialogue, and fundamental principles and rights.
The pursuit of social justice for all is the core of the United Nations global mission to promote the development and human dignity.
