Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is considered as an incarnation of the supreme personality of Godhead, Shree Krishna by his followers. He is also known as the founder of Achintya Bheda Abheda.

The real name of Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is Visvambhar.

This is because his maternal grandfather Pandit Nilambar Chakravarti who was also a renowned astrologer, predicted that the child would be a great personality and will influence others in his lifetime.

Lord Chaitanya was born to Shree Jagannath Misra and Shrimati Sachi Devi on 18th Februrary, 1486 in Nabadwip, West Bengal.

The Sanskrit word “Chaitanya” means “one who is conscious”.

During the age of fourteen or fifteen, Mahaprabhu was married to Laksmhi Devi.

He is known by many names such as Gauranga, Gaura, Gaursundar and Gaurhari. In his youth he was known as a great scholar of Sanskrit and Nyaya. He even had his own Sanskrit academy.

Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu introduced Sankirtan (chanting Harinaam) as a means to attain spiritual perfection.

His style of worshipping lord Shree Krishna by chanting and Sankirtan had a profound impact on the devotees throughout the main land. At the age of twenty-four, Mahaprabhu took “sannyasa” and left on an even long journey to serve God. He was firm in his religious duties and principles.

He travelled many parts of South India and during his 30s he went to Puri. During the forty-eighth year of his life his followers witnessed his disappearance during a Sankirtan in the temple of Tota Gopinath.

Shree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ji popularised the Sankirtan as a way to worship the Supreme personality of Godhead, Shree Krishna. Chanting Harinaam and dancing in pure bliss of Shree Hari gave immense joy to the devotees of Shree Radha-Krishna. His devotees and followers were known to practice religious duties and service to the society with pure hearts. Shree Mahaprabhu spent his whole life in the spiritual love of Shree RadheShyaam.

It is said that anyone could feel the divine aura during Sankirtan with the grace of Shree RadhaKrishna.

The power and significance of Haribol is endless and always provides peace to the devotee who preaches Shree Hari with a pure heart.
