It was pouring when I woke up today, not many of us wanted to leave so we would probably end up ordering food anyway.
I looked over and saw Colby still asleep in my bed, his hair was a mess and he was under a pile of my blankets, I hadn't talked to my brother or my parents in a while so I grabbed my computer to hopefully call them or edit some videos.
I checked what time it was in Australia to make sure it wasn't to late at night. It was only 10 pm so he should be awake, I clicked his contact and shut the door to the garage, not wanting to wake everyone up, because of the scare last night I want to let everyone have as much sleep as they could. Auggie was down by my feet not surprisingly.
It rang for a minute before his face popped up on my screen, he looked worried and like he had been crying,
"Joe what's up"
There was concern laid in my voice, he looked as if he was about to burst into tears.
"Chlo, I don't know how to say this but it's dad-"
My dad had been diagnosed with cancer a year before I left for LA, I even debated leaving but he made me promise that I would follow my dreams, my mind became fuzzy thinking off all the possibilities.
"Wha- What do you mean?! What happened!"
I tried to stay quiet but Joe was already in tears over the computer, it's like I knew what he was saying without having him explain it. He knew I realised it to.
"I'm so sorry Chloe, he made a box of things for you and we are sending it to you in LA, he made us promise not to let you come back to Australia for his funeral, he didn't want one, you know how dad was, never wanting people crying over him. But he made me promise to send you the box and that's all"
I let a shaky laugh, my dad was always a character, we talked for a while until he was called by mom to get something.
I sighed as I closed my laptop, I felt almost at peace over his death, I knew I should feel sad and cry but it was almost as if I was relieved he had no pain anymore and he was no longer suffering.
Auggie put his head in my lap like he could sense that I was needing him. I walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water when everyone was in there, immediately looking towards me saying good morning but stopping when they noticed that I was crying. Colby got up and came over to me, immediately wrapping me in his arms, "What's wrong? What happened? Are you ok!" I put my finger on his lips to shush him as I sat down,
"Well my father passed away from cancer late last night" everyone was silent, they didn't know what to say, to be fair neither would I if I was in their position. "And it's ok, I promise, he had been suffering for a while and I guess I'm just glad he's no longer suffering and he's at peace" they nodded as they gave me hugs individually.
Everyone left the kitchen giving me and Colby some alone time, he looked to me concerned, "Are you sure you're alright? You know you can talk to me right" I nodded and leant into his chest, holding his hands in mine. Colby was the best thing in my life and I was so glad I had him. He fiddled his hands in my hair as we watched videos on my phone, he kissed my head as he muffled something that he didn't intend for me to hear,
"I love you"
My eyes widened, he had never said that to me before, he stiffened when he realised I heard, "Um you know I mean you don't have to answer right now I guess I just uh needed to tell you" I laughed as I placed my face in his chest, he always rambled when he didn't know what to say, I looked up at him, making direct eye contact as I kissed his nose softly,
"I love you to Colby"
He kissed me softly on the lips. I smiled up at him as we heard aw's from the door, Corey and Elton were stood there cuddled together, Corey turned to Elton, "Our little boy is all grown up" I laughed, glad that I was able to share my life with this crazy family.

Chloe.Dane- if there was one lesson my dad taught me, never let anyone go, if you find someone that you believe is your one true love hold onto them and never let them leave you alone. This man was one of the best people in my life and he showed everyone that you need to always have positivity and never let yourself down. So I want you to all do something for me, love yourself and please don't stop sharing positivity, if you don't do it for me, do it for yourself. I love you always dad❤️🕊
