16- distraction from reality

I needed to get away from my mind for a while.

Everyone was constantly babying me and asking me if I'm okay. I understand that they are worried, I mean I would be to if my best friend had just been reminded of the worst time of her life and supposedly has a ghost coming for her, but seriously, I really didn't want their pity.

I also had to film for my channel which I hadn't done in a while because of everything going on, I wanted to do something different on my channel since I needed something to distract me from everything. Something that I used to love to do as a kid was bake, and Colby wasn't the best baker, putting it lightly. Wait no scratch that, he's the worst baker in the house.

"COLBY!"

I needed to get his attention so I decided that shouting really loud would probably do the trick, not surprising I was right, he came running into my bedroom holding his hairbrush as a weapon out in front of him,
"What? What happened?!" I started laughing as he waved his hairbrush around with his eyes closed. He looked at me in confusion as I gave him an innocent smile,
"I wanted you to come here" he flopped on my bed beside me pulling me into his chest.

"And a text wouldn't have worked?" I laughed into his chest, I realised then that when I am with him I forget about everything else, the shadow man, Amara, Jax, Tommy. Everything. I just knew that I was with Colby and I was safe,

"You're staring baby" I jumped out of my thoughts to look at him, I kissed his nose as I faced him,
"What are you thinking about?" He started to braid my hair loosely listening to me,
"Just, you know, life and how I'm so glad you are in it" he smiled leaning down to kiss me lightly,
"I love you Chloe" I still hadn't gotten used to that,
"I love you to Colby" I led on top of him, causing him to push me off.

We started to play fight, Colby winning of course, I was surprisingly weak. I suddenly remembered the only reason I asked him in here,
"Colby can we bake? I need to film for my YouTube and I'm pretty good at baking, you not so much" he laughed nodding pulling me up from my bed.

I had set my camera on the tripod (failing many times, I had to ask Colby to help me, not that anyone needs to know about that) and was ready to start filming, I had found a cookie recipe online hoping that it was easy enough for Colby to figure out. I put on my apron and stood behind the counter,

"Howdy my lovely people, it is me Chloe, welcome back or welcome to my channel, today I have decided to do something different and that involves my boyfriend Mr Colby Brock. So some of you may know that Colby's baking is the equivalent to a two year olds, but we don't judge here so I'm going to teach him to bake"

Colby had his hand over his heart showing fake hurt at my comment, I had the recipe on my phone and began weighing out the ingredients, Sam and Kat had come in the kitchen, they were laughing at Colby's attempt to use the hand mixer.

We had laughed so much that the video was going to be so messy but we didn't mind, Colby had ended up putting the hand mixer on a power way to high. Resulting in both of us covered in flour and sugar. During the video we were also answering questions from our viewers to it made for quite an entertaining video, most of it with us just exposing eachother. We also decided to make a competition out of the video so we each made a batch of cookies and the roommates would judge who's were better, the loser had to have the other person post something on their Twitter. And I was scared, but I have tasted Colby's cookies, they're not awful but they're not good.

I was sat with Colby watching toy story waiting for the roommates to get home, when I saw Kat had tagged me in a photo on Instagram, I quickly grabbed my phone to check.

I smiled up at Colby who was also looking at my phone, he saw my comment and turned to me,
"Still debating huh?" I smiled innocently and looked up at him,
"Hmmm I think so, nothing has really persuaded me yet" his mouth widened as he shoved me,
"Well maybe this will change your mind" he slowly placed his lips on mine, kissing me longer than we have ever before, I never wanted it to stop, my back hit the side of the sofa, Colby leaning over me.

"Guys there is children present, first of all your child!" Corey's voice broke us apart, Elton, Devyn and Corey had taken the dogs out for a walk, he was knelt down in the floor covering Auggies eyes. I pushed Colby off me and ran to Auggie on the floor, I heard Colby gasp from behind me,
"Nice to know I'm second best to Auggie" I laughed placing Auggies harness on the floor.

All the roommates were back now so Colby and I wanted to test out cookies, we had them on two plates but didn't tell the roommates which ones were made by who. Everyone took one cookie from each of the plates. My plate was number one and Colby's number two. We both had to leave the room for them to decide the number of the cookie they preferred.

We both walked back in and waited for them to say which one they preferred, I ended up getting Elton, Corey, Kat and Devyns votes and Colby got Sam and Aaron's, I cheered as I won chucking one of my cookies on my mouth, Devyn laughed eating another cookie,
"I'm guessing she won then?"

I grabbed Colby's phone going into Twitter, I knew exactly what I was going to put.

I am glad I live in the USA and not America because America is annoying

Colby groaned as I uploaded the tweet, wrapping me in a side hug,
"I mean you could've done worse to be honest"

I was getting ready for bed when my door opened, revealing a shirtless Colby carrying Auggie, I smiled at the scene snapping a picture quickly. He placed Auggie on my bed before coming up behind me, he took the hairbrush from my hand running it through my hair,
"Auggie wanted a family sleepover" I smiled taking his hand and walking over to my bed,
"Oh Auggie did? What about you?" He smiled pulling the covers over us, pulling me closer to him,
"Well Auggie just gave me puppy eyes and I don't want to say no to him" I nodded putting my phone on charge. Auggie was restless constantly looking at the corner of the room, I shushed him and brought him closer, lightly kissing Colby before going to sleep.

Third persons pov
What Chloe didn't know was that after this perfect day, thing would start to go downhill, starting with the sly shadow watching her carefully from the corner of the dimly lit bedroom, catching only the attention of the small dog before being shushed by the girl. If only Chloe knew what was in store for her. She would be scared.
