A/N: 3k update with mostly dialogue. A bit of wholesomeness to make up for the heart attack that I gave some of you last week 🙂✨

"No."

Toshinori had been worried that something like this would happen, but he was hoping that Shota would at least be willing to listen to reason. Captain Tsukauchi had hoped that Toshinori would be able to convince Shota to cooperate with their plans but it would seem that the stubborn omega has no intention of budging on the matter. It's understandable, Toshinori thinks, and Shota's concerns are very well-placed.

But if they miss an opportunity like this, they may never get one like it again.

"Shota. I know that you don't---"

"If you know then why are you still standing in front of my desk? Get the fuck out of my face, Yagi."

"Whoa---hey!" Toshinori startles, raising his hands in surrender at Shota's sudden display of aggression. It's usually just playful banter whenever Shota curses at him like that but he's quite visibly pissed off---if his souring scent wasn't telling enough. He's glaring up at Toshinori, pen clenched between his fingers in annoyance. "I can't even believe that you'd come and ask me to just be okay with something like that. And tell the captain that he can kiss my ass, too, if he honestly expects me to just sit back and let him do whatever the fuck he wants. This is the most fucked up thing you've ever asked me to do."

And that, admittedly, is something that Toshinori could agree on. He'd felt horrible about having to be the one to come and suggest such a thing but…

The captain had made a fairly decent argument in pointing out that they didn't have many other options and they certainly didn't have much time left to end this.

"Y-Yes, it is---I'm quite sorry about that. And I do understand your anger towards the captain but...you have to admit that it's one of our best options. One of our only options."

"I don't have to admit to shit.

"Shota---"

"If it were Inko and Izuku, would you do it? If you were in my shoes right now, Yagi, would you still be so gung-ho about what the captain is proposing?"

Toshinori has the decency---at the very least---to be sheepish about it.

"No. No, I suppose that I wouldn't."

"And here, I thought that you and I were friends."

"We are---"

"Clearly, we are not. A real friend would have spoken real reason into the discussion instead of doing the captain's dirty work in trying to convince me to throw my family to the wolves. You're no different than all the other alphas that you so claim to condemn."

That one stings; Toshinori feels his chest tight uncomfortably as a frown curls at his lips.

"Shota…"

"I think that we're done here." The raven says in finality, tossing the pen in his hand across his desk as he vehemently pushes out his chair to leave. "I'm going home. I don't give a shit who's dying; don't fucking call me here. I'll see you tomorrow." He says, sliding his coat onto his arms.
