A/N: I was listening to ilomilo when I wrote this.
For once, one of Tsukauchi's plans had actually worked.
Toshinori won't admit aloud that he had anticipated things hitting the fan or that he was pleasantly surprised by the outcome lest he bruise the captain's already fragile self-esteem. The strategy of sedating someone as volatile as Katsuki via scenting in comparison to using actual drugs had admittedly burdened Toshinori with several doubts but Shota's past experience in dealing with his own child seems to have given them an advantage.
He could imagine that Hitoshi had been near feral upon puberty and having Shota's husband look after him would have inevitably ended in the two alphas challenging each other. Shota's level head and low tolerance made him fairly intimidating and, as far as Toshinori knows, neither Hizashi nor Hitoshi has had the gall to challenge him.
Toshinori is fairly impressed with Katsuki as well. Though the small teen is naive and confused, he's very keen and in tune with his instincts. His omega seemed to understand that his only option was to submit. Seemed to sense that Shota wasn't anyone that he'd want to annoy or anger with lashing out. Shota's mothering aura had probably had a lot to do with it as well but because Katsuki is still such a mystery to them---and to himself---it's fair to say that they may never know.
Toshinori does wish, however, that Katsuki wasn't so curious.
"Where are you taking me?"
"You're going to be staying with my family and I for a while until your brother gets better." Toshinori supplies, feeling a little guilty about lying right through his teeth but it's best that Katsuki doesn't know the nitty gritty details of his current situation just yet. He'd hoped it was enough to keep Katsuki's curiosity quelled but apparently not.
"Why?"
"Well, you can't very well live at the hospital."
"Why?"
"Because some other sick person may need to go there and there may not be enough room if you're there and you're not sick anymore."
"Oh. Why can't I just stay with Brother?"
"Your brother would recover better with plenty of peace and quiet."
"I can be quiet."
"Katsuki."
"Brother always stayed by my side while I was sick. I do not feel okay with leaving Brother alone to be sick when he needs me. Tomura would never leave me."
"He was going to leave you to go to the better place." Toshinori regrets saying it the moment he does, even more so when Katsuki's inquiries come to a halt. He decides it's better that he reroutes any further questions that Katsuki has about Tenko Shimura in the future. As delicate as the poor lad is, he doesn't need to add more baggage to the existential crisis inevitably brewing inside of him.
Maybe Yagi should consider returning to sensitivity training.
He clears his throat as his car comes into view, pushing the unlock button on his key fob and coming to a jerky stop as Katsuki startles and nearly jumps out of his skin. He clings to Yagi with a nervous tremble, head darting and swiveling around in search of any unseen foe. This even puts Toshinori on high alert, as he's uncertain what could have possibly sent the omega into a state of flight or fight until he registers the loud chirping noise that his car makes upon unlocking it. He sighs, realizing that this is going to be quite a long couple of weeks. Hopefully this would be over before summer ended.
"Katsuki, relax. It's just the car, sweetheart."
"A...what? What is a car? Is it that big ugly monster there? Why does it make such an awful noise?" The teen bristles, glaring at the car. He refuses to come out from his hiding spot, using Toshinori as a shield. It's cute---Yagi thinks---how innocent he is. "It's not a monster, son. Cars are machines or tools that people use to get from one place to another when they can't walk there. Like bikes or skates or even buses." He explains. He continues on towards the car with Katsuki waddling along behind him, slapping his hand against the hood to show the blonde that it was harmless. Tentatively, Katsuki scuttles from beneath Yagi's wing and quickly slaps his palm against the car as well. He recoils his hand quickly and jumps back behind the alpha to glare at the contraption but it stays docile. It's enough to convince him that the vehicle isn't a threat so he slowly releases Toshinori and steps back to allow the older man to open the door for him.
