A/N: I'm back. Will update this a second time today to make up for my absence and will also be updating FYPM! I'll also still update this a third time this week on tomorrow. Updates for Tuesday will come tomorrow as well!
"Touya, look at the duckies!"
Katsuki excitedly tugs on the alpha's shirt as he spots them in the pond, bouncing on his toes as he points in the direction of the birds. Touya pauses in helping Keigo spread the blanket out onto the ground to see what's got the blonde so riled up.
"I see, baby. This is your first time seeing them, isn't it?" He remembers, smoothing out the blanket and laying out the pillows they'd brought for his mother to sit on so that he'd be comfortable. The idea to have a family picnic today was, admittedly, a grand one. The weather is nice and fair, clouds filtering the harsh rays of the sun without covering the beautiful blue of the afternoon sky. A breeze would come every now and again and while there are several people in the park who seem to have the same idea, it isn't crowded and uncomfortable. Katsuki has never gone on a picnic before so he, more than anyone else, is extremely excited.
Masaru helps Enji sit down as Shouto and Izuku busy themselves with bringing the baskets of food over. They've become rather close over the last couple of weeks and Touya couldn't have asked for a better outcome. What's more is that they haven't seen or heard from Mitsuki Bakugou since they'd left with Masaru that day. It's been peaceful, but Touya can't help but stay on his toes. When someone as problematic as Mitsuki goes quiet, it can only mean one of two things.
She's either plotting or there's already a shitshow headed their way.
Regardless of which it is, she's definitely up to no good.
"See that one there, love?" Keigo points, leaning down at Katsuki's side to wrap an arm around his middle in a sort of side-hug. "The ones with the longer necks like that one there? Those are called geese. They're a little more aggressive than the ducks so be careful with those, yeah?" He warns, squeezing him and pressing a kiss to the side of his head. "I brought some seeds and oats with me because I figured you'd want to feed them---"
"Ah! Yes, please!" Katsuki interjects in a bit of a squeal as he wraps his arms around Keigo in a full blown hug. The older blonde welcomes his affections, lifting Katsuki onto his back. "Alright, alright. Just for a little while and then we're going to come back and eat, okay?" It reminds him a lot of when Shouto was younger. He was lucky to have come into his life while he was still a kid---ten years old, to be exact. He'd cherish the experience of being able to be there for him for as long as he lives.
While he isn't Katsuki's father, he's more than happy to fill the role. It's a decade late but Katsuki deserves that, too. If even only for a while.
Masaru watches Keigo carry Katsuki down to the pond and show him how to feed the birds. All he's ever wanted for Katsuki was this---a big family and lots of people who love and care about him. He wishes he could have given his darling boy a father who cherished him. It makes him feel so full to see it now, yet so empty. He'd failed as a mother. But through this family---the Todoroki's? Katsuki would never go a day without knowing that he would never have to be alone again.
He's envious.
He's so very grateful.
"Are you alright, Masa?"
His gaze flickers up to Enji's concerned expression and he manages a smile, squeezing the redhead's hand gently to reassure him. "I'm alright. Just thinking is all."
Enji sighs, lacing their fingers together. "Remember what we talked about? You've got to stay out of that head of yours, Masa. You're going to make an enemy out of yourself. Whatever your worries are? Today, they don't matter. We're here to have a lovely time and enjoy our family. That means you."
