ACT THREE, loss
CHAPTER TWELVE, educational decreeKnowing that they were doing something to fight against Umbridge and the Ministry left Iris feeling satisfied for the rest of the weekend.
Even when she was stuck doing homework all of Sunday, she found that her mind would secretly wander back to Saturday's events. They were making a difference now, just like those that came before them had done.
These feelings of satisfaction, however, flipped on its head the moment Iris caught sight of the Slytherin notice board. There was a new sign that was different from the usual ones that had been up for months. It seemed as though half the Slytherins had gathered around to see what the sign said. It was printed in big black letters and there was a highly official-looking seal stamped at the bottom beside a neat and curly signature.

Dolores Jane Umbridge
High InquisitorA sixth year Slytherin named Thomas ripped the notice down and held it close to his face.
"No what? Is she mad?" He asked incredulously.
Students began talking over each other loudly. Hands reached out from all over to snatch the notice away from Thomas so they could read over it themselves.
Oliver pushed his way though the crowd and appeared at Iris's side.
"Do you think she knows?" Oliver whispered to her. He took her elbow and pulled her away from everyone else. The same thought crossed Iris's mind too, that someone told Umbridge what had happened but she didn't know who it could've been. There were the obvious suspects of course: Zacharias Smith and Cho's friend weren't exempt from her suspect pool.
"I don't know." Iris said.
"I reckon that half of them probably think we were the ones that told, if someone even did." Oliver grumbled. Iris knew he was right but she didn't say anything in response. Harry, Ron (maybe), and Hermione at least knew that they wouldn't tell and that was good enough for her.
The rest of the morning up until they sat down for Arithmancy was spent with everyone talking about the new educational degree. Most everyone was mad about it, and rightfully so. Members of the Slytherin Quidditch Team were the most upset because they would have to go to Umbridge and ask for her to reinstate the team.
"It's madness!" Draco had said angrily over his cup of orange juice.
Luckily for them, Umbridge gave the Slytherins premission to play Quidditch right away once Draco asked and name dropped Lucius.
