Iris Rosier always believed she was the odd one out. She didn't share her family's beliefs and constantly felt as though she was different from them. The moment a house elf and a hidden letter come into her life claiming that she's not who she thoug...

ACT ONE, forgotten home CHAPTER ONE,chasing maverick
Iris took a deep breath before knocking on the door of Maverick Krane. Maverick, although she wasn't actually a Krane, had taken up the last name after the disappearance of the sisters she didn't remember. Iris hadn't even realized that there was another Krane, Ophelia Krane, who had gone missing years before her younger sister.
The door swung open and revealed a man that was at least forty years older than Iris, but his face was kind. He had green eyes and curly blonde hair and a look of recognition registered in his eyes before a smile fell on his face. Iris remembered that he was the man with the grocery bags in his hand.
''It's you.'' Alex said, before furrowing his eyebrows. ''You look the exact same as you did twenty years ago.''
''Are you a muggle?'' Iris asked, noticing that he looked very relaxed and lived in the suburbs of London. Alex nodded, opening the door wider.
''I had a feeling you'd be coming, Amara.'' Alex said. Iris frowned at him.
''It's Iris, actually.'' She corrected.
''Ah, well, Maverick isn't home at the moment. However, there is something that I was supposed to give to you when you came around. Well, I'm supposed to educated you.'' Alex said. Iris was confused. Educated her about what.
''Educate me about what?'' Iris asked.
''Calypso Black. The answers you are looking for on how to save her don't come from me, I'm afraid. She did leave a place to hide the cure to her affliction, but you need to find someone else. Calypso was always one for elaborate things. She had to ensure that no one else would find it.'' Alex paused. ''She had a friend. The Marauders, actually, I believe that her name was Firebird. There were five of them. Two are dead, one is in Azkaban, she had disappeared, but there is one left.''
''The tall one?'' Iris asked, remembering the boy from the past. Another one that she remembered was Peter Pettigrew, she recognized. Her family had talked about him as if they were old friends.
''Correct. Remus Lupin lost everything the first time around. He lost his best friends, his girlfriend, the people that helped him control his.. affliction. He went into hiding, but last I checked, he was about to become the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.'' Alex explained.
''Do you know where I can find him?'' Iris asked.
''Well, I do.'' The voice of Maverick said. Iris turned and saw the dirty blonde standing with a hand on her hips and a smirk on her face. ''Check the Dragonfly Inn. Godric's Hollow, last I checked, that's where he was. So, are you my niece?"
''I don't understand. If you guys knew who I was, then why didn't you ever say anything?'' Iris asked. It was inevitable and in order for her to save Calypso, she had to accept who she was. She couldn't hide it anymore. And she knew that the woman who raised her was not her biological mother, but she couldn't confront her about it. If she did, she would surely be punished or worse.
''We couldn't, Iris. You were under such close surveillance and there are things that Calypso could not tell us about this. I mean, my dad's a muggle and I was six. There was nothing that we could do that would change the course of events.'' Maverick said. ''We're the few that know. But.. if you do save my sister and find her, contact me. It's been 12 years and everyday her face fades from my memory.''
''I will be sure to.'' Iris nodded. ''I guess I understand why you couldn't mention it, but.. how did you realize who I was?''
Alex and Maverick looked at eachother with smiles plastered on their faces. ''You have her eyes.''
Iris and Maverick used the floo network to get to Dragonfly Inn. Maverick did most of the talking but she coerced the owner to tell them which room Remus Lupin was staying in. Maverick went to his room and pounded on the door before it opened. Iris realized how different he looked from the last time she saw him. He had a long scar going down his face and he looked so tired. Yet, hope shined in his features.
''Maverick? What're you doing...'' Remus trailed off as he looked down at Iris. Iris could tell that it pained him to look at her.
''She needs your help.'' Maverick said. ''You told my father that Calypso left you a letter the night she disappeared. What did it say?''
Dear Moony,
My time approaches. There is nothing you can do to prevent this and please do not blame yourself for what happens. I am sorry that I can no longer help you with your shifts. That's the worse part of it all, Moony. Because after everything that has happened, you are the only one that is left.
He loved them, Remus. I was there when he saw their bodies for the first time, he loved them. He wouldn't kill them because he had a family to come home to and protect.
Keep an eye out for Harry, as well.
He needs a friend and I know it will be painful to look at him and not think about James and Lily, but it is our duty to take care of him. Well, when I get out of this trap, it will be.
Speaking of which, my daughter.
Someone will take her, but I have left many clues. Near the end, these clues will lead to you. It is your task, my one wish, for you to guide her. To tell her who she is so that she believes. If she is anything like myself or Sirius, she will surely doubt the facts that I have presented her with and I hope she does. It means she's smart to not jump to conclusions.
There will be a necklace that she has. She just needs to say the words, Remus. The words in which are transcribed on our map that created all those years ago. The two, simple words.
Love, Calypso Black.
Iris looked at Remus waiting as he stared at her with a soft smile, looking at the necklace that laid on her neck.
''Mischief managed.'' He said.
Iris repeated the words and noticed the necklace had begun to glow. The jewel opened and revealed a piece of parchment inside. She looked over at Maverick and Remus, seeing that the last clue she had given was inside. The clue to save her life.
''You knew her personally?'' Iris had asked. Remus launched into the story but Iris became lost when he mentioned Animagi.
''The Marauder's were animagi to help Remus with his curse. Animagus, if they have a scar or imprint or a distinctive feature, have that when they transform into their animal form. It's very advanced work and I'm actually quite shocked that you lot pulled it off.'' Maverick said. Iris nodded.
''Sirius would have been so unbelievably happy to see you, Iris.'' Remus said sadly. Iris looked down at her shoes. What if she wasn't like how they wanted her to be? These people seemed and sounded so good and pure, but Iris was far from it. She took out the parchment and read the letter thoroughly. At first, she was confused on what the clue was before she saw it.
Search the spot where the phoenix flies and is reborn.
''Of course!'' Iris exclaimed, a smile dotting her features. ''She hid the vial in Dumbledore's office. Look. The phoenix flies and is reborn. Dumbledore has a Phoenix in his office, it makes sense. But.. how can I get into Hogwarts? It's the summer.''
Remus and Maverick exchanged glances.
''Looks like you'll just have to wait.'' Remus explained. ''Find her and get the vial to her before anyone noticed at school, then. Can you do this?''
Iris nodded. This had surely been the most eventful summer of her life.
