“Look what I bought for you Yoyo! Oh and do see this present I got from Sam too.”

Sam! Since when did the jerk become Sam. I placed my rucksack on the couch, with a smile plastered on my face.

“Yuri?” I called her again. Lilith might have not yet come back but Yuri comes an hour before I do. I started searching for her in the kitchen but there were no trace that would tell me of her presence. My search extended from one room to the other but I was greeted with nothing but silence. Where did she go?

I picked out my phone from my bag and searched for Lilith’s number.

‘Hey!’ She spoke cheerfully.

‘Hey lil, is Yuri with you?’

‘No, she’d be at home.’ Lilith said, I could imagine her shrugging.

‘She isn’t home yet. Was there some event at school?’

‘No.’

‘Okay, I’ll call her friends.’

‘I’ll see her at school on my way home.’

‘Okay.’

I cut the call and started scrolling through the familiar phone numbers of Yuri’s friends.

“Hey, Edgar?” I said as soon as the ringing stopped.

“Umm… Yuri is that you?” The boy asked, confused by my voice. She wasn’t there.

“No I am her sister, did Yuri leave for home late today?”

“Um, no ma’am…” he hesitated, “she left with us. In fact, I saw her talking to a lady as well. She had golden hair, just like hers.”

Golden hair? Like her?

“Oh, ok, thank you.” I disconnected it before he could ask any further.

A lady? Panic was building in my chest. Yuri never goes anywhere without telling me. It's very rare for her.

Half an hour passed with me frantically pacing around the living room. I wanted to go out and search but Lilith’s call was important to know before.

“Hey!” I almost yelled as soon as her name flashed on my screen.

“She’s not in the school. In fact the principal doesn’t know anything about her as well.”
