Chapter 40

"What the hell?"

"What babe?" Jack asks, his eyes falling to my phone.

I spent the day with Jonah and we went out for supper. It's been soo long since we had one-on-one time.

Someone took a photo of us at the restaurant when he was giving me a cute little friendship bracelet. He picked them up at some little local vendor because they were so cute.

"They're making a big thing outta it. Some of them think I'm cheating on you with him." I hand Jack my phone and I can feel him get angry.

He quickly just takes a deep breath then lets it out, calming himself down. "Just... just ignore it for now, okay Addy? I know it's hard."

"It's okay." I put my phone away and just cling to his hand. "It's okay. You're not mad at me."

"Oh, Addy..." he cuddles me into his side. "I don't think you'd do anything to make me mad at you. I love you too much. And besides, I know the truth. You'd never ever do something like what they're suggesting."

His reasurance starts to calm the sudden sprint my heart decided to take.

"Addison, you're my baby girl and I love you. And I know you love me too, because I could've never got you back if you didn't. You're so special to me. You're allowed to hang out with any of the guys you want to and not worry about any of that shit. Nobody could ever convince me you'd cheat." He kisses the back of my hand. "You could hang out with anybody you want to. I don't care. As long as your safe and you feel comfortable. If ever you don't, just call and I'll be there in a flash."

"I love you too, Jack." I crawl up on his chest and he adjusts the blankets over us. "I love you. I love that you're like that. With him... I wasn't allowed to even talk to anyone. If he found out I'd talked to Jonah, he absolutely flipped on me. I never told Jonah that. I know he would've felt like it was his fault. He probably would feel guilty to this day if he knew what happened."

I run my hands through Jacks hair and he closes his eyes and listens. Everything in the room is washed out in green due to the LEDs being the only lights on.

"I couldn't not answer Jonah, though, when I was alone. Being alone there was... I'm not sure if it was worse than when Kyle was there. Jonah kept me occupied for each short time we would talk. He might be the only reason I have any sort of sanity today."

"Man, I owe him big time." Jack groans as he stretchs a little, eyes still closed. "I'm so fucking glad he didn't let you just disapear."

The next day, there's a heat wave that grips California. The boys are doing a livestream at Jonah's apartment, and I tag along for the ride with Cortez.

I help the boys set up everything. Zach couldn't make it, but it's alright. I keep an eye on the camera. They do a little Q&A and just hang out with the fans for a while. At one point, Corbyn convinced Cortez to jump up on the couch and cuddle on his lap.

I'm just quiet in the background. I like the atmosphere. The boys always have an amazing atmosphere around them. They get so excited, so happy, they're all so friendly and when they're together it just feels so right. Barely anything they do in front of the fans is an "act." The only time they do act it is if they have a rough day and they wanna not ruin their experience.

"Addy's fine. Jonah kept her company and spoiled her for me the other day when I was busy working on some stuff." I hear Jack say as I grab a bottle of water out of the fridge.

"Yeah. I call dibs next time." Corbyn states like a child. "She always hangs out with Jonah. I want time with our little sis too."

I feel a grin plaster on my face at that. Man, Jack's smart. He just fixed that in one whole sentance. And Beans adding that just solidifies my place.

"We'll have to make a schedual then." Dan chuckles. "It's not fair that the rest of us barely ever get to see her anymore."

I awe inwardly and flash them all a smile. Jack goes ahead and answers a question about how Lavy's doing, keeping the conversations going along.
