"Maybe I was wrong...?" She whispered nervously as she stood on the roof.
Upon arrival she expected to see him there but found it empty. With a small frown on her face, she went to sit by the railing where she had first opened up to him, and thought about where else he might be.
"I can't be wrong. He should be here. Maybe I read the note wrong?" She whispered to herself as she pulled the note out again. "No I'm right. This is where I told him everything, why did I tell him everything? I don't even know but I trusted him. Isn't that what he's thinking about? What else..." she kept rambling to herself before she heard a deep laugh coming from behind her.
"You're cute when you ramble." She turned to see Jaehyun standing there with a smile.
"Jae! There you are!"
He opened his arms as she ran to him, giving him a quick hug before stepping away.
"I saw you come up and was going to say something but it was cute seeing you get all confused. Did you have fun?"
"Yeah, I did. But why? What was this for?" She asked, holding up her little pile of notes.
"There's some stuff I wanted to tell you, snd these notes helped with that... it also bought me time to figure out what I wanted to say." He quickly took the notes from her, grasping her hand and bringing her over to sit by the railing.
He held up the first note.
"Your locker. Where we first met. You probably would think that I don't remember that first day encounter but I do. And every since that little smart mouth of yours talked back to me, I knew you were trouble. And I've had my eye on you ever since."
She giggled in response, thinking back to that first day when she absolutely hated him.
"Second note, your brother. I give him a lot of shit, but that's what rivals do. As much as I hate to admit it, he's a really good brother, and I'm glad you have someone like him at this school. I'm also glad that he got you into dance all those years ago, otherwise I don't know if we would've met."
She nodded her head with a small smile as he picked up the next one.
"My least favorite things. Math. My stress. One in the same I guess. But I knew you were special because you were the first person who I've ever opened up to about my struggle, and not only that, but you helped me. Your words and actions speak volumes, and I don't think you know just how much you do for me."
"Aw, Jae." She said, blushing as he went to pick up the next notes.
He grasped both of them, and held them up.
"Your favorite class and the place where you trusted me. These two go together. Let's start with this one." He raised the earlier note.
"Favorites. My favorite things about you. I love how passionate you are. I love how strong and confident you are, you care for people so much and aren't afraid to speak your mind. You push me to work harder but also be better. You've made me realize my own faults but also my own successes. You make me smile and laugh and feel comfortable more than anyone else."
She was full on blushing now as Jaehyun intertwined their hands.
"I trust you. And-" he picked up the last note. "I'm trusting that you won't break my heart when I tell you this. I like you, Hyemi, a lot. I've been trying to tell you for weeks now but we kept getting interrupted, and I can't hold my feelings back anymore. I want you to be mine."
Her jaw dropped as she stared back at him, the butterflies in her stomach multiplying.
"So," he said, looking into her eyes with a nervous smile. "Are you gonna break my heart right now?"
