I noticed my parent's car in the driveway as I pulled up to my house.
Well shit.
I sighed and got out of the car. Slowly, I unlocked the door and twisted the knob. When I thought I successfully unlocked the door, I came face to face with two furious adults that call themselves my parents.
"Where the hell have you been Adriana?" my mom yelled.
"Hey mama, my day was good. How was yours?" I asked sarcastically.
"I don't know who the fuck you think you're talking to, but next time I see your ass going out without our permission, I'm taking your keys." I stayed silent and stared at the both of them . I knew if I said anything back, my black ass would've been homeless. But it turns out my silence just made them even more angry.
"Oh so you think you can ignore us now?" my dad finally spoke up.
"I-"
"So you think you're all grown since you're in your twenties huh? Remember you are livin' under our roof, so don't try to act grown!"
"I didn't say tha-"
"Why can't you be like your brothers? They graduated college with a high GPA and they have a high paying job! But no, all you do is laze around and try to get yourself pregnant from that stupid Ross boy!" my mom shouted.
"It's Royce, and we broke up, so there's no need to worr-."
"Good! He probably saw that you were a waste of space! Nobody wants a lazy wife!" my mom interrupted yet again.
...
Silence filled the air until I finally said, "I'm going upstairs." Before I could wait for my parent's response, I walked upstairs locked myself in bathroom. I was used to being yelled at. Ever since I was little, my parents were always cold to me and compared me to my "lovely" brothers. They shamed me in every possible way you could think of. I got used to it in high school and stopped crying about it. It seemed like crying would get me nowhere. Don't get me wrong, all the insults my parents say to me hurt...like a bitch, but there's nothing I can do about it.
I took a hot steamy shower to release all of my nerves. As I got out, I heard stuff moving around in my room. I swung the bathroom door only to reveal my mom rummaging through my stuff.
"What the hell!" I yelled. My mom stood up quickly.
"Why are you cussin' in my got damn house?" she asks as if she wasn't snooping through my stuff.
"I wouldn't have cussed if you weren't looking through my stuff."
"Who bought you all this shit, huh?"
"Me!" I yelled. "I used my money to buy all of my stuff since you and dad are too greedy to buy me anything!" My response infuriated her even more.
"Whose house are you livin' in? Tell me, Adriana! Mine? Or yours?" My silence made her eyes glint with victory. "That's what I thought, so shut your ass up and remember who the hell you're talking to next time!" she stomped out of my room and slammed the door. I stood there frozen. My watery eyes stared at the wall. I gripped onto the pendant of the necklace my grandma gave me when I was little. I always wore the necklace after my grandma died. It was the only thing that reminded me of someone in my family who actually gave a fuck about me.
Grandma, how did an angel like you give birth to a demon?
A single tear ran down my face before I hastily swiped it away and made my way downstairs. As I walked to the kitchen, I saw Ivy looking through the fridge. I hadn't talked to her since I caught her sleeping with my ex earlier. Once she noticed my presence, she looked away from the fridge and made eye contact with me.
She smirked and said, "The sex was amazing."
"I noticed." I said bluntly.
"He said I was better than you," she bragged.
"Want a cookie?" I pushed past her and made my way to the pantry. I didn't want to deal with anymore of her bullshit, so I rushed to find food.
"You know, none of this would've happened if you had just apologized for flirting with my boyfriend. But like the slut you are, I guess your pride gets in the way." I decided to ignore her, I knew she was still trying to get a reaction from me. "Hm, I guess you know you're a homewrecker since you aren't denying i-."
"You're a hypocrite to call me a slut and a homewrecker. You've been in multiple relationships over the past four years, and they all ended because you cheated. I had a relationship for two years that you ruined over some petty grudge that wasn't even true. So remind me of who's the slut in this situation? Because last time I checked I wasn't the one who slept with someone else's boyfriend over some childish shit." I said while smiling. I grabbed my food and walked upstairs, ignoring her piercing glares.
As I ate my food while I was on my laptop, I suddenly remembered that the night would probably only get worse if I stayed in the house.
Yeah, no fuck this.
I started stuffing some of my clothes and undergarments into my duffel bag. I put my favorite and necessary hygiene and hair products in my backpack along with my laptop, my laptop charger, and phone charger. Lastly, I grabbed my keys and the rest of my bags and rushed to my car.
It's gonna be a while before I come back here.
