Discarded Memories

The skies have been changing colours recently,

And I've thrown away all the things that could have reminded me,

All the pictures and the cards, the dried flower petals and gifted scarves,

The photos that we printed out are sitting at the bottom of the trunk of my car.

But what about the discorded memories?

What about all the stories,

That we thought would be ours?

What about all the time that we spent?

Our conversations had no end,

What about all those wasted hours?

The skies and the rain remind me of us,

All the times we spent together, till you threw me under the bus,

All the inside jokes and funny names,

Do you think I've forgotten about them?

I wish I could but the skies and the rain,

Bring back all those thoughts with an extra serving of the pain,

And I wish I could forget you the way you forgot us,

But I guess I should have known, but what do I know about love?
