I don't want a ring on my finger,

I don't want either of us to change our names,

I don't want gifts and cards and flowers either,

I don't need you to remember all the important dates.

I don't want us to be complex and complicated,

I just want us to be able to play it cool,

I don't need you to always be there for me,

I just need you to always be you,

I don't know what you expect of me or whether I'm capable of meeting you expectations.

I just know that we don't a set of rules to live by, we don't need any regulations,

But I need you to listen to me when you're angry and let me explain before you storm out,

And I'll let you do the same irrespective of whether you're ready to accept what it's all about,

We don't need to talk every night of the week or even text good morning and good night.

Just promise I'll be there somewhere at the back of your head, even if I'm out of your sight,

We don't need to move in together, or even get a place that we call home,

I'll stick to memories because memories are forever, they'll last longer than any house we could ever own.
