A stolen diary, an English project and a lot of hormonal teenagers starts off this story. Joanne is a feisty introverted college freshman that just so happens to be stuck with the most popular guy in school for an English project.
Love blossoms and...
"Hurry up." Chloe said, growling at her two older sisters who were gawking absentmindedly at the gift shops nearby. "They'll run out of tickets!"
"Calm down baby sis, stop getting your panties in a twist." Laura said, following after Chloe. "We'll be on time for the movie."
"I hope so."
"Kids are so annoying," Joanne drawled, putting on a black face cap with Girl Power written in black boldly on it.
The Gyles were on a vacation at the cinema, their mother had wandered off with an old friend she just happened to run into. Chloe was left with the job of babysitting her sisters, ironic when she was the youngest. Emily however knew if she left Laura or Joanne in charge, they wouldn't be able to watch any movie. Overall, she trusted Chloe more than either of them.
"Like you aren't one too." Laura said, eyeing Joanne.
"I'm seventeen!" Joanne protested, she was no kid, in fact she would soon legally become an adult.
"How cute," Laura teased.
"Pot calling kettle black. You're just a year older than me."
"Enough," Chloe waved the tickets in the air. Afterwards, she looked around, trying to grab a hold of their Mom. "Mom!"
The dark haired woman smiled at her, approaching them. "Good job Chloe. What is this?" Emma said, flipping Joanne's cap over.
"Hey, I bought that." Joanne frowned. Emma would always find ways to make her mad. Joanne was going to go for the kill and let all hell lose on her Mom right on the spot - till she felt a warm hand on her shoulder.
"Forget it," Laura said as she gently placed the cap back on Joanne's head, smiling at her. "Now let's go enjoy this movie." Laura cheerfully grabbed Joanne's and Chloe's arms, pulling them into the theatre.
"Geez," Emily took their tickets, and found herself a convenient seat near her kids.
"Miles is so cool," Chloe whispered, munching on popcorn.
"Yeah yeah, shut up and let's watch this thing."
"What's the name of the movie again?" Emily asked, clueless.
"Would you-" Joanne bit back her words, shushing both her Mom and sister. "Spiderman - into the spider verse."
During the finishing credits, the Gyles were already making their way through the swarming crowd. There was a fair amount of people who remained in their seats, obviously stricken by the awesomeness of the movie.
"Boy that movie was epic."
"Like you're the one to talk." Laura replied Chloe as she stretched her arms and legs.
"Meh, could have been better." Joanne shrugged.
"It would have gotten a ten out of ten if it was an anime, ain't it?"
"You know me too well." Joanne and Laura burst out laughing, Chloe chuckled.
The place was about to close, that movie was the last to be aired that day. The Gyles hurriedly made their way out of the building.
"Isn't that a photo booth?" Joanne inquired, leaning over Chloe. "I'm right, it is."
"Well what'dya say?" Laura winked at both her sisters.
"We don't know if it's open or not. The place is closed, it's probably not even-"
Hardly had Joanne finished her sentence, Laura was already on her way to the photo booth. "It's open!"
"Well guess I can't escape this one." Joanne said to herself as Chloe dragged her by the arm all the way to the booth, Joanne had to duck to get in but Chloe had no problem fitting into it. "I've never used one of these things before. Hey-"
Click.
The picture had been taken, waiting to be picked. Chloe had pressed the button ignorantly. It was although a funny picture, Joanne made no effort to look pretty and was caught in the moment.
"Your face right here is priceless, I'm keeping this." Laura said, sticking the picture into her pants.
"Hey."
"Better be ready this time," Chloe warned.
Tails in between legs, Joanne obediently posed with her no nonsense look. Laura declared it 'looking like she was forced to take the picture' and demanded Joanne smile or do something better.
"What if we both kiss you on the cheek?" Joanne suggested, uncertainty present in her voice, it was obvious she didn't really like the idea, but she would do anything to make Laura feel better.
"I'm down."
In a split second, Joanne and Chloe kissed Laura on the cheek, Laura grinning from ear to ear. "I won't lie, it actually looks pretty good." Joanne said, smiling at the picture in her hand.
"Are you done?" Their Mom yelled from a distance. They all caught up to her, entered the car and set for home. The vacation although short, meant more than anything to them, it was a memory they all cherished with the pictures as proof.
A picture of Miles Morales!!! Yes, I'm in love with his character... feast your eyes, this happens to be one of my favorite parts in the movie.
