Just hey? Nothing else you'd like to add. - Cory
Like what? - Joanne
Oh I don't know. How about 'sorry I told your friends we were broken up even though we never actually dated' for a start? - C
Sorry? What do I have to be sorry about? We weren't even actually dating and all this was a big fat lie. - J
There was no response for a minute or two.
A heads up would have been nice. - C
Yeah whatever. - J
So even what? They were bound to know sooner or later. - J
Only Amanda and Jim know. Let's keep it that way for now. I'm talking your mom, my dad, Subomi, Jordan, everybody. - C
Even Subomi and Jordan? That's mean. - J
We don't have a choice. Do not, I repeat do not tell them. - C
Yes sir :( - J
It's Saturday tomorrow, the last day of your errands. I'd like just a bottled water and a croissant. - C
Cory! You can get that anywhere by yourself. - J
I can, but why should I when I can have you get it? - C
Because you're spoilt Cory, Joanne thought. So spoilt expired milk tastes good.
Fine. But don't expect the croissant to still be a croissant when I get there. - J
What's that supposed to mean? - C
Don't you dare! - C
Joanne smiled, proud of herself. Cory should be expecting a half eaten croissant. She drifted off to sleep. This night hosted a nightmare, similar to the ones she normally had but less scarier. Patricia appeared in her dreams. Like a guardian angel.
Due to her nightmare problems, Joanne developed insomnia. She laid awake covered in sweat on the bed. Eventually she cradled herself to sleep. This time she had no nightmares, it was just a plain restful sleep - one Joanne hadn't been having enough of.
Joanne and Patricia watched some episodes of an anime together before going to their different destinations. Joanne to Jim's house and Patricia to wherever she got her nails done.
"Hey, what are you doing - here?" Cory asked puzzled. Even Joanne was shocked, Jim didn't mention anything about he and Cory living in the same house. Joanne pulled herself together.
"Came to see Jim. Can I come in?" Joanne asked. She tried to get a view of inside the house.
"Yeah I guess." Cory grudgingly widened the door for Joanne to pass.
"Thank you. Where is he?"
"Out. Said he had to go get some jewelry at Wal-Mart."
"Oh," Joanne brought her phone out to text Jim.
Where are you? I'm at your house. - Joanne
"My croissant?" Cory arched a brow at the white bag in Joanne's grasp.
"Here," She tossed him the bag. Cory ransacked it and found a whole croissant. He stuffed his mouth.
"Thanks. You're the best." He gave Joanne two thumbs up. She stifled a laugh. Her phone buzzed.
On my way. Had to get something from the jewelry store. Should get there in twenty. - Jim
Okay. - Joanne
Cory leaned over her. He pressed his body weight against her. "What are you doing?"
Joanne gasped. She switched her phone off immediately and jerked forward. "Texting someone. Why?"
