"Thanks for helping me with my homework, Y/n," Harry yawned from behind you.

You turned around and grinned at him. He looked adorable when he's half asleep. You were reviewing his essay of Defense Against the Dark Arts, once you thought it was perfected, you stood up and sat next to him. "No problem, Harry," you smiled.

"You're such a great friend," he said, running his hand up and down his face to try and make himself stay awake for longer.

Noticing that he was tired, you asked, "Would you like to go to sleep, Harry?"

He nodded.

"Here, rest on my lap if you'd like," you told him, grabbing a throw pillow and placing it on your legs. You patted the pillow and he happily rested his head on it. He gazed up at you, a slight smile on his lips. "You're so cute when you're half asleep like this."

He grinned and he visibly blushed as you can tell by the firelight of the common room. "Thanks," he said, trying to stop himself from smiling but it was like he was under a spell. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop grinning.

"Go to sleep, Harry, I'm going to stay right here," you soothed, playing with his hair as his eyes seemed to be too heavy for him. You admired how he looked when he was asleep, he looked so precious and you smiled. As you played with his hair, your head seemed to weigh a lot more heavily than usual. Your breathing was getting slower and when you blinked, you didn't have the strength to open your eyes anymore.

You slept until something horrendous woke you up.

Harry, who was filled with cold sweat, got up abruptly and started to yell. You opened your eyes and looked around wildly, hoping to figure out what the source of the sound was. You looked to your right and Harry was sobbing, shaking like if he just dived into the Black lake in mid winter, and his head kept on moving around his neck robotically.

You put your arms over him and squeezed him, sort of like a tight hug. He kept on moving and trying to refuse your help but eventually, after a few shushing moments, he stayed still. You hummed softly against his head and his pounding heart began to settle down. "Shh, its okay, Harry, you're safe. It was just a dream, okay? Just a dream...," you soothed, placing your hand on his back and making circular motions.

He started to sob again once he realized it was just a dream. "I'm scared, Y/n, I'm so scared. What's happening to me?" He cried onto your shoulder, tightening his hold on you as if scared you might vanish if he didn't hold on.

You were frightened because usually Harry never cried about anything. You continued to stroke his hair and hum softly to his favorite song. After a few deep breaths you said, "It's okay, Harry. Nothing's going to hurt you... You are safe here. Whatever you dreamt, it wasn't real."

He nodded and his body seemed to curl towards you, his shoulders slumped, his head lowering. He looked exhausted and he finally separated from the hug. You hid your shock and smiled reassuringly at him.

"Can you please not tell anyone?" He asked you, wiping his sweat on his sleeves. "I don't want others to think something is wrong with me. They already think I've gone mad."

You chuckled. "Of course I won't tell anyone, Harry. Everyone has a few share of their own nightmares, but if it happens again-"

"I'll look into it," he finished, smiling at you again. "How did you know how to calm me?"

"I've been your friend for several years, Harry, I picked up a few things," you replied, and moved a piece of your hair that fell on your face behind your ear. "Besides, I used it on some of my other friends when they are scared."

"Like who?"

"Like Neville, he gets really scared when we have to go to Snape's class. I hate how horrible he treats Neville, and it makes him get really worked up. Also with the first years that have to get Umbridge for detention, it really is horrible... so, yes, I had to research ways to calm others," you explained.

When you looked back at Harry's eyes, they twinkled and it made his blue eyes look beautiful. He was smiling and said appreciatively, "That is actually really amazing."

"Thank you, Harry," you acknowledged, feeling a little bashful as he kept on smiling at you.

"Well, I guess I will just go to sleep... again," he said, standing up from the couch.

"Would you not like to sleep here? I'll make sure you don't get those nightmares again," you called after him and he nodded.

"Yes, please."

You chuckled and he sat back down again. This time he didn't lay down but instead placed his arm behind your head and you gently placed your head on his shoulder. "Will you be able to sleep alright?" He asked you, using that same arm to trace lazy figures on your other shoulder.

"Yes, will you?" You asked him, letting out a long exhale. "I want you to be able to sleep comfortably."

He looked at you again and said, rather sheepishly, "I think I will manage."

You chuckled again and you curled up into his chest. You felt his chest rise and fall steadily and you smiled as both of your hearts were synchronized. Once you felt completely safe, you fell asleep as you felt his fingers still tracing shapes on your shoulder.

"She's so beautiful," Harry whispered, more to himself than any other person. There were footsteps coming out from the boy's side of the common room and Harry was scared. He turned his head, making sure that you were still asleep, he asked, "Who's there?"

His question was answered by a tall, and lanky boy appearing from the boy's dormitory. His fire red hair matched with the cozy fire that was still going.

"I heard screaming earlier," Ron yawned. His sleepy eyes rested on the two figures that were cuddling in front of him, this seemed to wake him right up. "Is that you, Harry? And... Y/n?"

"Shh! She's sleeping," Harry whispered, feeling a little protective over you, he continued, "Besides, what's the problem? No one was screaming anyways... so, you can go back to sleep. What are you looking so amused about?"

Ron's face showed exactly what Harry would've imagined. He was grinning and raising his eyebrows rather highly. Harry flushed and said, rather more aggressively than he hoped for, "Would you quit looking at me like that?"

Ron threw his hands in the air like he was surrendering, still not taking the grin off his face. "Whatever you say, mate, but," Ron said, and looking around the room before adding, "You should be careful and make sure no one else sees you like that."

"What? I'm not embarrassed about Y/n, and if people want to-"

"Its not that, Harry," Ron interrupted, "I'm telling you that because there are plenty of things written about you on the Daily Prophet. Someone might want a few extra sickles and rat you out that you have a girlfriend...?" Ron was waiting for Harry to answer but Harry stayed silent.

"Alright, cheers mate. Goodnight," Ron said, yawning again before heading back up the boy dorms.

Harry's mind wandered to what Ron said...

Girlfriend... I'm Y/n's boyfriend.... That sounds rather brilliant.

But, she's my friend. I can't do that. I probably don't even feel anything for her-

You groaned in your sleep and you grabbed his arm that rested next to you. You felt for his hand and you placed your hand in his. Harry's stomach did a somersault.

Well, there goes my suspicions. Her hand fits nicely with mine...

And with being comforted by holding each other's hand, the both of you dozed off. You felt someone's hand in yours and in the middle of the night, you woke up and smiled as it was Harry's. Harry was perfectly asleep and he looked like an angel. He didn't have any nightmares, in fact, it looked like he never had one. You went back to sleep and it was the perfect night.
