32. Small World

"Stop fixing your hair. You look great," Mikey says

"I feel weird." Brendon laughs

"You didn't know, hopefully, he'll somewhat understand. Either way, you have your copy of the project thing if things don't go too well." Mikey says parking the car.

"I know." Brendon sighs

"Maybe, after your done here we can hang out again but actually go somewhere."Mikey offers

"I'm down for that. Thank you again, for taking me." Brendon says since his car broke down.

"It's no problem, I'll see you later," Mikey says with a small smile

"You should smile more," Brendon says

"Maybe I will."

——- time skip——

Brendon sits down next to Tyler.

"Tyler, I'm sorry. I didn't know-"

"Did Dallon hurt you?" Tyler asks

Brendon's eyes widened "No-no, he would never hurt me." Dallon has never hurt him physically at least. "He was always good to me." Brendon sighs playing with the drawstring of his hoodie. "Did something happened to you?"

"No." Tyler shakes his head

"Why don't we talk after class?" Brendon suggests

"Of course." Tyler nods

✨One class period later.✨

Brendon and Tyler find a free area in the lobby to talk.

Brendon: My class is over. But it might be more than a few minutes.

Mikey: Either way I'll be there in about five minutes as you're car is getting fixed as we speak.

Brendon: You didn't have to do that.

Mikey: It's no problem. I'll see you soon.

Brendon: See you soon.

Brendon puts his phone down and the conversation between the two starts up.

"Ah, why did you ask if Dallon hurt me?"

"When you both were gone you came back with a black eye." Tyler's says

"He didn't do that. I was jumped by some people. Dallon wouldn't hurt me, he just stayed with me for a few nights." Brendon tries to explain.

"Being a good boyfriend."

"Dallon wasn't my boyfriend and I wasn't Dallon's his." Brendon shakes his head.

"Then what were you to him?" Tyler asks

"We were transactional dating I guess you could call it."

"What does that mean?" Tyler asks clueless about the term.

Brendon sighs "Dallon is in a few words, my sugar daddy?"

"Right... w-what is that?" Tyler says

"How do- Basically our quote-unquote relationship benefits us both. For me, Dallon helps me financially and I help him sexually or romantically..." Brendon explains.

"This makes more sense if you put it like that."

"Why?" Brendon says in pure confusion.

"I'm asexual "Tyler admits

"Oh..." Brendon says then the connection hits him like a truck "Oh! Shit sorry."

The two talk some more most conversations ending in a painfully awkward silence Brendon didn't have the heart to tell him what he knew about Ryan.

"How long were you with him?" Brendon asks

"About two years," Tyler says

"Hey, Brendon." Mikey says

"What are you doing here?" Brendon asks

"I was bored in the car."

"Hi, Mikey. This is Tyler."

"Wait, I know you? You were married to one of Dallon's friends." Tyler says

"You know Pete?" Mikey asks

"Dallon took me to a couple of his parties." Tyler nods

"I don't remember you or Dallon." Mikey says "Then again I was kinda out off it most of the time and i got divorced about two years ago."

"Wait, you were married!? And is this the same Pete that is Patrick's ex's?"

"Yes, to both." Mikey chuckles rubbing the back of his neck.

"So you know each other through Patrick, I have heard Pete say his name but never seen the face. I remember Pete saying "he wasn't into the party scene too much and he was working on school stuff."

"We are talking about the same people. What is missing from the equation that all of us have never met before?" Mikey asks

"I knew, Patrick before he was with Pete. Mikey, you, I guess met me went I was let's say out of it too because I don't really remember you. I met Tyler what like a little over a few weeks ago." Brendon says

"Small world," Tyler says

"I need to move." Mikey sighs

"I'll see you later, Tyler?" Brendon says "Text me if you need anything."

"Yeah, bye to you both." Tyler says walking away.

Mikey waves and the two head for the car.

"You, me I'm thinking going out for dinner then... there's this driven movie place downtown." Mikey says

"Are you asking me on a date?" Brendon asks getting in the car.

"If you wanna call it that sure, if feel your ready for that. But I initially called it hanging out." Mikey clarifies. 

"Oh," Brendon says a little disappointed.

"I don't wanna rush things." Mikey says

"And that's fine." Brendon smiles.
