"Hahh..."

I sighed while looking out the window of the carriage. Violet looked over at me, concerned, and Mika just stayed silent with his usual smile.

"Brother? Are you okay?"

Of course I'm not okay. I'm fucking pissed.

However, I can't really say that currently, can I? I make eye contact with her without turning my head.

"I'm alright."

She looked like she didn't believe me as she still had a worried look on her face, but I guess I can't really hide how I'm feeling right now.

There's no point in denying it anymore.

Cyril has seriously been avoiding me.

I wasn't even able to talk to him during the banquet. That's why I could only rely on my last resort.

We were going to visit him directly at the castle.

Luckily, our families are close and Violet is his fiancée. It serves as a good cover for visiting him, and it can be seen as two families deepening their relationship.

By the time we arrived, we were escorted inside and into one of the many parlor rooms in the castle. This was the Tanzanite Palace, the main residence of the Queen and Cyril. The banquet was held in the main palace, where the emperor resides.

We've visited a few times before, but it really never changes. The outside is extremely beautiful and well-kept. The garden surrounding the palace is always tended to, so the blue roses just stand out more. The inside looks elegant and modest, but everything costs a fortune. I heard that the consort mocked the empress for the castle being shabby and plain, but she soon swallowed her own words after learning about the cost of it all.

Not going to lie, I may have wanted to swipe something when I was a little kid... not anymore though! I swear!

Anyway, I sat in the parlor with Violet, as we both waited for the boy in question to meet with us.

I suddenly heard a few light taps on the door as it opened, the blonde-haired boy walked in. He had his usual smile as he greeted us.

"G... Virgil! Violet! I didn't expect you guys to visit me. It's great to see you guys though!"

Hah?

I tried my best to keep from speaking my thoughts out loud.

Who was he trying to fool?!

He hasn't contacted us for two months now! How could he just waltz right up to us and pretend like he didn't just ghost us for two months?! There wasn't even a single letter!

Not to mention, he clearly addressed me differently from normal. Usually, he would always be calling me Gil, but it seems he doesn't want to do that anymore, either.

I don't know why, but I'm just getting more and more pissed. He's even avoiding eye contact with me! If he has something to get off his chest, just say it! I want to be told what I'm doing wrong, rather than be avoided without knowing the reason!

I snapped back to reality after I realized that I spent a little too long thinking, and the atmosphere had grown tense from the long silence. Violet looked frantic, but just before she began to speak, Cyril opened his mouth again.

"Ah! I'll um... go and get something for us to drink and eat!"

"Eh? Bu—"

"I'll be right back!"

Cutting off Violet again, he quickly left the room.

Tch.

What the fuck is he even doing?
