It's been about a week since I was brought into the Deianira family.

I'm currently taking lessons on noble etiquette and other studies. I've been busy with this for the past few weeks because I have to make up for the years I missed living at the orphanage. I'm also starting lessons on business and how to manage a fief. It's just been a busy but honestly extremely boring week.

Since I was reincarnated, I'm smarter than the average kid, but the Virgil in the game was known as a genius as a kid already, so I don't know whether it's because I'm a genius, or because of the game's setting.

I'm thinking it's probably the latter, as even though I don't know the language of this world, I learned the alphabet for it surprisingly easily in the first day. However, I've also heard that kids just naturally sink in information easier.

I'm currently in my arithmetic lessons. They arranged me to have a tutor before I even came into the household. His name is Orpheus Valencia. He's the second son from a small baron family. He couldn't inherit the family, but with his own abilities, he became known as one of the smartest people in the empire.

Orpheus has dark green hair and blue eyes. Honestly, from the description of what I heard about him, I honestly thought he would be wearing glasses like most smart characters in these types of settings, but he doesn't. He's usually gentle and kind towards people, but when he's teaching, he becomes more strict.

We're learning pretty basic stuff so I zone out a bit. Math was one of the only lessons I didn't really pay much attention to. The others like Language and History were stuff I didn't know, so I had to actually listen to the lesson, but math is the same in any world as long as you know what the new number system is like. One plus one will always equal two, no matter where I reincarnate.

I was already in college in my last life, something grade school level is a piece of cake.(However, if we start doing high school concepts, it'll probably be a different story...)

Anyway, I don't want to go too out of character of the original setting of Virgil. My biggest strength right now is the fact that I know what will happen like the back of my hand. Before I make any big changes, I've got to use it to my advantage. The butterfly effect or something like that. I may change one little thing and boom. Chaos, and we'll probably all end up as slaves to mole people.

Luckily, I know a lot about Virgil's character. My sister said that he was her "bias-wrecker" or something like that. Her favorite character was apparently the crown prince, but she played Virgil's route often too.

Virgil is the classic kuudere type. He's silent and cold most of the time. He ignores the heroine at first, even going as far as to drop her from his arms in their meeting event when the heroine falls from a tree. They get off on the wrong foot and Virgil ignores her while she gets mad at him, thinking he's rude.

One day, the heroine notices Virgil saving a baby bird that fell from it's nest. This makes the heroine see him in a new light and she climbs the tree once again, after he leaves, to use her light magic to heal the baby bird. By the time the heroine had ran away from there, Virgil had come back and saw that the baby bird had it's injuries healed. He notices a handkerchief on the ground and later finds out it's from the heroine.

They get closer together over time and eventually fall in love.

I know, cheesy as fuck right?

Anyway, from what I could tell, Virgil is a quiet guy dejected from the world. He cares more about animals than people, but will still go out of his way in the shadows to help people. He's emotionless most of the time, but he sometimes smiles when he's with the heroine(I don't know how when his face muscles are dead).

He's diligent and seems serious most of the time, but he can act childish at times.

He honestly seems boring to me and I don't know why my sister liked his character so much. However, according to her, "you don't understand! The gap moe of a seemingly emotionless guy suddenly being caring to you is the cutest thing ever! Not to mention! He has black hair and a pretty face! Ugh! What would I expect from a virgin! Get me a beer!"

I still have no idea why she had to bring that last part up... I take a deep sigh and try to calm my mind before I get even angrier.

Anyway, I've never been into that type before. I prefer the more cutesy type over the calm and cold type.(I'm referring to girls.)

Honestly, I can probably just get away with being silent most of the time and answering in short sentences when it comes to playing the part. I don't have to worry about keeping my face emotionless, since it does that by itself. If I try to force another expression out, it just looks weird and strained.

It's should be fine though, because Virgil was the type of character that smiled a total of maybe three times throughout the whole game. I won't need much for smiling in my opinion.

Anyway, I need to start on a plan on how to stop the ruin of the Deianira household. In almost all of the endings, Virgil gets away scot-free from the ruin of his family's household by being on the "right side" and testifying against his own adoptive father. His father gets punished for his crimes, and depending on how the first part of the game plays out, his father and his sister both get executed, or only his father does. Either way, he becomes the new duke of the Deianira household and in the epilogue, he restores the glory of his house, propelling it to noble prestige higher than it was before, with or without the heroine.

Either way, If I just act out the part, I have a free ticket to a good life, as you could say it. Basically everybody but me will have struggles just because I'm a capture target. Hooray for being handsome.

However, I don't want to just take the easy way out. I promised in my last life that I'll work hard to save my new family so I don't feel the same regret of being a trash son on my death bed. The duke and duchess had also took great pains to make sure I felt comfortable in my new environment. I want to pay them back the best I can.

Solving the villainess's problem can be dealt with later, I first have to tackle the biggest problem right now.

The duchess's death.

From the story, she dies soon after Virgil comes into the household. However, for the past week, she's not left the house at all. It was said to be an accidental death, but I don't know how she could die in this house without there being a blatant killer. I'm currently waiting for news that might give me the last piece to the puzzle. The duchess's death was only mentioned with one blurb of text. I wish they were more specific about this...

I'm jolted from my deep thoughts from my tutor calling my name. He looks kind of mad. Shit. Must've realized I wasn't paying attention.

He asked me to answer the question on the board, thinking I wouldn't be able to answer it. However, it's just a simple algebra problem. It might be hard for a regular 6 year old, but it's easily solvable if you've done these problems a hundred times before in high school, I don't even need to write the question down to solve it.

I answer the problem, to the surprise of Orpheus. He's taken aback at first but than a smile appears on his face as he packs his book up for the day.

Confused, as there was still time left for the lesson, I asked him where he was going. He answered with a slight excitement to his voice.

"Don't worry about it, just be prepared for a surprise for tomorrow!"

Dumbfounded, I just stared emotionlessly as he left the room.

Strange.

For some reason, I have a bad feeling about this...

Orpheus was known as one of the smartest people in the empire mostly because he liked to learn more than anything. Rather than a genius, he was a study maniac.

This sudden thought that came to mind right that second should've been able to tell me what the "surprise" was, but I just mentally blocked the thought from my mind. Future me will just deal with the future surprise... Out of sight, out of mind...

As I pack my stuff up and start heading to my room, I overhear the fact that the duchess is leaving to go visit her family today from a couple of maids talking about the schedule for today.

This is it!

It's time to visit the duchess's family!
