lately Diluc has been very busy with deliveries of expensicve wine, serving customers at the tavern or prying Donna away. you both barely had any time together since you were aswell occupied with various tasks like comissions.
life wasn't easy for you but in the end you always found time for eachother, just resting, dining or whatever, you savored these rare moments.
but today you wanted to change it, at least for the little time you had. it was Diluc's birthday and nothing could come into your way, preparing a surprise for your lover
planning beforehand already, everything went smoothly so far. the whole day you were outside, searching for fresh ingredients and in the afternoon you started to prepare various dishes.
now, a whole table was set with delicious looking food. from Diluc's favourite to exotic liyue dishes, everything was included.
maybe you overdid it a bit, but it was his special day and you wanted to make him the happiest afterall.
just as you decided to pour in grape juice for you lover, the said male opened the door and stepped into the house.
his fiery red hair was slightly messy from working all day long and his eyes showed only drowsiness.
he have a hard job and you greatly appreciated it. not only as the dawn winery owner, but also as the dark knight hero he protected Mondstadt in the shadows, when everyone's asleep.
you knew it was important to him and you tried to give support to him in any way possible, the only worry was the lack of rest he had.
in the mornings he was hardly waking up while at noon, he already sat in his chair and worked documents after documents.
if you were home early, you usually offerd him a massage or just peppered him with love until he decided to rest, but Diluc often felt bad.
he knew you had to work aswell, protecting the city like he does but in another way. with constant guilt he tried to make it up to you by coming home earlier or just simply telling you how much he loves you everytime he has the chance.
seeing you preparing a whole banquet for whatever occasion, left him stunned and amazed. you just smiled softly at him while standing up to make your way towards the redhead.
"welcome home, Diluc." your smooth voice chimed as you took off the heavy coat on his shoulders laying it to the side.
you sent him another smile before grabbing his hand and leading the surprised pyro wielder to the table.
"what is this all for?" still oblivious to the fact why you did this he asked while taking the seat opposite from you.
a chuckle escaped your lips, you figured that he would forget it due to the amount of work he has so his confusion amused you.
"well" you started explaing, "it is your birthday afterall, so i thought i would do something special" another close-eyed smile was sent to Diluc and you began to take your fork and knife to eat.
in front of you, the male still needed his time to process what you've just said and done for him.
"it isn't my birthday." finally he decided to speak up after a long silence. only clatter of the silverware was heard until he looked up.
this made you laugh out loud. your melodic laughter ringing through the room, causing a slight blush to form on his cheeks.
the sight of you laughing, no. the sound of your laugther was enough to erupt butterflies in his stomach and he couldn't get enough of it.
but he still was confused why you laughed.
"dear, it is. check the calendar." finally after calming yourself you answered your lover who still didn't believe you.
while standing up he mumbled that it clearly wasn't his special day. Diluc took long strides to the fireplace on which a calender stood.
immediately the warmth of the fire reached him and not only that. he could feel the heat spreading through his face as he realized, it was indeed his birthday and he forgot.
the amounts of work piling up distracted him and he didn't even have enough time to think about his own special day.
he was glad he had you. not only were you the love of his life, no. you were his life.
without you he would be a wreck, drowning himself in work and constantly switching between the most famous wine industry owner and the mysterious saviour of Mondstadt at night.
his life would become a mess, no structure and only work. Diluc was sure, without you his health condition would be alot worse.
despite not showing it often or telling you, he greatly appreciated you for being by his side and loving all his flaws.
with a smile he went around the table next to you, his right arm resting on your chair as his left hand gently took your chin and turned it towards his face which was not far away from yours since you could feel his hot breath on your skin.
slowly he inched closer, his eyes glancing at your parted pink lips, silently asking for permission. as an answer you just closed your eyes and leaned in aswell until both your lips met.
full with love your lips moved against eachother and your hands entangled in his red locks, occasionaly pulling on them weakily, causing him to groan quietly.
pulling away due to the lack of oxygen you both just stared at eachother with loveling gazes and never getting enough of eachother.
