Sophie woke up the next morning with an unease feeling in her stomach.

Why? It might've been because of Keefe's cover-up story. It was funny. But rumors weren't funny. False information wasn't funny either.

That got her mind thinking about gossip.

Gossip..., Sophie thought, Oh, right! That exists in schools. Of course that's the main highlight of my day.

Don't be such a worrier! Sophie thought to herself.

After all, she'd faced getting kidnapped, presumed dead, and more. This was school! School, the place with torturous study books. That was probably the only bad thing about school. Actually, there was gossip. And mean kids. And Stina. And-

No, nope. So not going further. She was trying to convince herself there was nothing to worry about at school, not think about the things to worry about.

With a sigh, and with the uneased feeling, she got up from her bed. Particularly trying to avoid Vertina, the obnoxious talking mirror in her room that particularly like liked putting makeup on Sophie. And styling her hair. And other torturous girl-related things she wasn't really interested in.

Walking downstairs, Sophie found Grady and Edaline sitting at the table.

Sitting down at the table, Sophie mumbled a 'Good Morning,' and then helping herself to some pastries on the table.

"Good luck, kiddo," Grady said. "Good luck on your first day back at Foxfire," He added after looking at Sophie's baffled face.

"Oh. Yea. Thanks. I'll see you guys later." Sophie replied after finishing her pastries and giving hugs to both of her parents.

Looking up at the Leapmaster 500, a device that let elves light leap, Sophie prayed she would be spared the unneeded attention at school and glittered away.
____________
The praying was unneeded. No one paid attention to her. This is good, Sophie thought to herself, This is good.

It was not good.

People didn't pay attention so much that people literally bumped into her more often than she would've liked it.

At least no one was talking about the crazy lie Keefe made up.
____________

After school was a good part of her day. Well, not really. It was just better than school.

She leaped back to Havenfield, she first earned herself a very loooooong and boring scolding from Grady. About why she shouldn't have been three seconds after the time she was supposed to be at home.

Gee, no pressure there. I guess I'll have to pray our teachers let us out early. She thought.

Oh, wait! Praying never works.

Walking upstairs, there was another thing she dreaded.

Homework. The evilest thing in the world.

Looking down at the papers, she sat down with a sigh and tackled her homework. Not literally, though.

__________

"SOPHIE!" A voice called.

Sophie snapped up from her nap. I fell asleep?

"SOPHIE!" The voice, which was probably Grady's, repeated.

"WHAT?" Sophie called back.

"SOMEONE- WAIT NO- SOME PEOPLE ARE HERE FOR YOU."

Sophie thought they were probably Fitz and Biana.

"COMING." Sophie yelled as she stood up and made her way to the door.

She got downstairs and she saw the whole gang - Dex, Biana, Keefe, Fitz, Tam, and Linh.

"So..." Sophie said, "we got the whole gang here."

"We're here to discuss about the oh-so-big secret that Biana won't tell us." Keefe said with a sigh.

Tam rolled his eyes. "No one wants to tell you anything."

"This is normal, by the way, about the bickering between those two." Linh said, motioning between Keefe and Tam.

"I... see. So, uh, let's go up to my room. We need privacy."

As they made their way upstairs, Sophie prayed that one of her friends would figure this all out and save her from the doom of research books.

"Wow." Dex said after Sophie finished telling Dex about the symbol and the visit to school, "You snuck into Forkle's office?"

"Yea..," Sophie said while thinking that Dex might be mad at her because she lied to him in the hallway.

"Don't worry, I'm not mad at you. You really did check out the school."

Sophie sighed in relief.

"One more thing- I think I know where and when the Neverseen want to meet with us."
____________
Yes. I did end the chapter like that.

On the other hand - Team Dex for the win! I did this because Dex never gets enough credit for anything. So sad.

Sorry I didn't update twice last week. A little busy and hectic schedule. Don't worry, I'll still try to update twice a week. Not losing hope in this book.

Thanks for reading and please vote (the little star), comment, and share!

Thanks again!
