"Keefe- he- is he okay? Where is he?" Sophie asked worriedly, and if it weren't for Fitz, she would've fallen over due to her shock.

"He's in the Healing Center. He hasn't woke yet." Alden said while rushing his wife back in the house.

"Let's go," Sophie told Fitz, who nodded and walked with her to the tree.

Seconds later, they were at Foxfire. Due to the school's enormous size, Fitz led her to the Healing Center.

They saw Keefe in a cot, surrounded by all of Sophie's friends, Physic, and Elwin, who was trying to find the right elixir to help Keefe.

"Is he okay?" Sophie asked, rushing to Keefe's side. "How long has he been like this? Where's Cassius? Does he know?"

"Sophie, I think you might need an elixir. Here, have this. It calms you down." Elwin handed her a bottle of a green, goopy concoction that did not look appetizing. She wasn't going to drink it anyway.

"No thanks." She shook her head, still worried out of her mind about Keefe. The stupid idiot. Elwin had already told him not to feel guilty, now this?

"He's fine, at least for now. I don't want him to go through the same things Alden went through, and that's the reason why I don't want Alden here.

"He was fine until about a couple hours after you left and he just... passed out. He seems peaceful, almost." Elwin said, checking Keefe's temperature.

"Cassius? I don't know about him. He's probably 'busy' and 'doesn't have time right now."

Typical Cassius, Sophie grumbled to herself.

"I don't think he actually knows about it yet. I don't want him to know, either. His trust for us will go down to nothing." Elwin looked up at Sophie.

"I have a feeling you know what to do," Elwin said.

"Yeah... I do... it's just..." Sophie trailed off.

"Just what? Sophie, I know in that wonderful mind of yours that whatever plan you have will be the best one out there. And none of us can heal minds, for the matter." Elwin said.

"Healing him? I'd say yes in a split second. But what happens after? I don't know. What if he remembers the guilt? What if he's still secretly blaming himself the whole time, without us knowing? And no elf has ever been the way he is twice. It's just what happens after, Elwin. We need to think about that..." Sophie said.

Then she gasped.

"What is it, Sophie?" Biana asked.

"I have a solution, but I don't think it's the best... but it'll work, definitely."

"We're waiting," said Physic, "but I sure am excited to see the look on Elwin's face when you say it. We made a bet that he wouldn't be able to fix Keefe completely without your help."

"It's pretty simple, actually." Sophie said.

"Oh no- no- don't do it- Sophie, you know- consequences-" Dex said, terror forming on his face, a sign showing he knew what Sophie was about to say.

"We'll need a Washer to erase his memories."

(A/N: *sighs* What a shame. This would've been a great cliffhanger. But this chapter is too short... sad, sad.)
______________

The tension rose as the Washer came in the room, led by Mr. Forkle.

The Washer sat down in the chair across from the cot.

"This is the Black Swan's Washer, and he prefers not to share his name," Mr. Forkle told everyone.

"We've done our research, and I'd probably suggest we wash his memories first and then you heal him, so his confusion will not rise of why there's a random guy putting his fingers on his temples." Tiergan said, "But we've never had a case like this, so things might not go as planned because the Washer's dealing with 1) an unconscious person, 2) with a broken mind, and 3) someone who is not willingly giving them access to the memories." Tiergan finished.

"But do you know what you're truly risking?"

Sophie reached up to tug her eyelashes, but Fitz stopped her.

"Keefe is strong. He can do this." Fitz said while taking Sophie's hands in his.

Fitz nodded at the Washer, who stood up and reached for Keefe's temples.

And right there, Sophie blacked out.
__________

Keefe's eyes opened.

Sophie stood up, worried out of her mind. It had been three hours since she healed him and he woke up just now.

His silence was worrying her, and making her wonder if he'd have to start all over again.

"Hey, Foster." Keefe said.
____________

So.... How'd you like the cliffhanger? I mean, you literally only have to wait 24 hours. Only 24 hours of tension! Not that bad, right? *chuckles nervously*
