George pushes past the other performers to get to Paul.

"Are you alright?" He asks, grabbing onto Paul.

"George, we're not safe here!" Paul says, running upstairs that leads to the roof, with George in tow.

"Why have you brought me here?" George questions.

"We can't go back there!" Paul ignores his question.

  "We must return!"

  "He'll kill you!"

"His eyes will find us there!"

  "Paul, don't say that."

  "Those eyes that burn!"

"Don't even think it!" George tells Paul.

"If he has to kill a thousand men!"

"Forget this waking nightmare!" George pleads.

"The Phantom of the Cavern will kill and kill again!"

  "This phantom is a fable!"

"Believe me! There is no phantom of the Cavern!" George tries to tell Paul.

"My God, who is this man?!" They sing together.

  "Who hunts to kill."

  "This mask of death."

  "I can't escape from him!"

"Whose is this voice you hear?"

"I never will!" Paul says, still walking, but pulling his hair a little.

  "With every breath?"

"And in this labyrinth, where night is blind! The phantom of the Cavern is here, inside my mind (inside your mind)"

They reach the top of the steps and open the door, leading to the roof.

"There is no phantom of the Cavern." George assures.

"Geo, I've been there. To his world of unending light."

"To a world where daylight dissolves into darkness."

Paul gets closer to George, as the white snow crunches beneath his feet.

"Geo, I've seen him! Can I ever forget that sight?" Paul remembers.

"Can I ever escape from that face? So distorted, deformed, it was hardly a face." Paul visions the face he saw just hours earlier.

  "In that darkness."

Paul looks at the red rose in his hand, then starts again.

"But his voice fills my spirit, with a strange, sweet sound." Paul remembers the pleasure he had hearing the baritone man sing.

Paul slowly walks past George and goes to the ledge overlooking the beautiful city from above.

"In that night, there was music in my mind."

"And through music, my soul began to soar." The events of last night replay over and over in Paul's head.

"And I heard, as I'd never heard before."
