(34) US Olympics & Critcism

A week later 

Bucky told everyone to come over to his place. It was the day of the figure skating Olympics. Maggie had left for Greece four days before that with her parents and her grandparents on her dad's side. Ingrid's parents couldn't make the trip due to the flu bug. 

When everyone arrived they were confused. "Barnes since when do you care about the Olympics?" Sam said 

"You'll see. Deacon you will start to like them too I promise." Bucky said with a smile. 

Everyone took their seats in the living room. Half way through the competition a blonde in a purple ice skating dress skated out on to the ice. 

"Up next Willow Baylor from the US team." 

Deacon gulped. "She never talks about this.." Deacon whispered as "Faded." By Alan Walker began to play. 

Deacon about dropped his beer bottle when she spun on one leg. "Damn.." he whispered 

Bucky smiled. "Told you.." he said as he slapped his shoulder. 

A few skaters later a blonde in a yellow dress skated out. 

"Ladies and gentlemen up next is 4 time gold medalist and 2 time junior gold medalist Margaret Connors." 

"Maggie?" Natasha said 

"Pocketful of Sunshine." began to play, Bucky watched her with a smile. "You are so whipped. Like why are you here and not there." Clint said 

"Because we have a game tomorrow." Bucky said as she landed her last triple Axel. 

When she was done he said "that's my girl." in a low tone. 

By the end of the program Willow took home silver and Maggie got gold once again. Willow and Maggie did their interviews together. When she FaceTimed Bucky once she was able to get back to the hotel Willow was with her and Deacon took the phone. 

"Dude.." Bucky said 

"Hey Willow..call me." Deacon said as he gave the phone back. 

"I miss you Buck." She said 

"I miss you baby." He said as he went to his bedroom. 

They talked for another thirty minutes before they fell asleep.

Five days later 

"Here baby..I got you some ice chips and Candy." Bucky said as they were stopped at a gas station headed towards Rhode Island where her mom's parents live. 

"How'd you know?" She said when she saw gummi bears and peanut m&ms. 

"Baby I told you I've always paid attention even if I was an ass." He said as he got back on the road. 

They pulled up to her grandparents house it was her grandpa's birthday. Bucky opened the car door for her and helped her out. The butler led them inside to the sitting room. 

"Margaret it's so lovely to see you." Eugenie said 

"Hi grandma it's nice to see you feeling better." She said 

"Who is this that you've brought with you." Eugenie said 

"This is my boyfriend James Barnes III." She said 

"Nice to meet you James. I am Eugenie and this is my husband Scott." Eugenie said 

"Nice to meet both of you Mr and Mrs Ellis." Bucky said as he shook both hands. 

"Nice to meet you young man." Scott said 

Her other grandparents joined them. "These are my dad's parents Franklin and Elizabeth Connors." Maggie said 

"Nice to meet you." Franklin said as they shook hands.

She also introduced him to her parents Aaron and Ingrid. Her older half siblings Elijah and Elsie from her dad's previous marriage. They all enjoyed some appetizers wine and scotch before dinner. 

Once dinner started is when Eugenie started her critical opinions of Maggie's recent performance. 

"So Margaret Grace I am not pleased." Eugenie said 

"Mom." Ingrid said 

"I wasn't a fun of the song it was to fast and threw off all the choreo and stunts. Don't even get me started on that. Your landings were wobbly I'm surprised you took home gold. And the yellow dress we have talked about before." Eugenie said 

Maggie looked down she felt Bucky squeeze her hand under the table. 

"Mom we thought she did great. Why do you have to be so critical all the time?" Ingrid said 

"Ingrid Eloise don't disrespect your mother." Scott said 

Maggie was quiet the rest of the night and asked Bucky if they could get a hotel room and drive back in the morning.
