The Deception

The Next Day:

Ash awoke groggily with the sun streaming through the curtains that Ash had so desperately tried to shut. Standing up Ash walked into the other bedroom spotting his Pikachu and Eevee of parallel beds sound asleep. Ash decided to leave them and went to make breakfast. Nothing beats bacon and eggs. Since he spend long periods of time out in the wilderness from capturing Pokemon, (other peoples and strong wild Pokemon he had found) he had taught himself how to cook. Ash looked at the time. 9am. The brackets had just changed with the matches in the morning just ending so Ash decided to look at his Pokedex to figure out who was in his bracket. Ash looked. He stared actually. Maybe his eyes were playing tricks but no. Just his luck. He wasn't scared of the person he was versing. Amused? Slightly. But scared. No. His bracket had Max and Bonnie in it. The two people whose betrayal other than Dawn hurt him the most because they idolized him. They saw him as another older sibling. And the last person was what Ash was amused about. The name seemed to glare back at him reminding him of what he did to New Bark Town all those years ago. The image of Jimmy's name burnt itself into Ash's mind. Their names separated by the letter v. Jimmy was out for blood. Out for blood to avenge his hometown. The peaceful town Ash had burnt to the ground. Ash sighed and got up preparing for the match that would take place in 2 hours.

1 Hour Earlier:

Both Jimmy and Paul were anxious for the battle. The current 2nd and 3rd place on the leaderboard would make a good match. The crowd watched silently for the referee to walk onto the battlefield and the commentary was driving both of them crazy, "right now on the battlefield as we wait for the ref we have on my left Jimmy of New Bark Town, Johto who is currently 1 point behind Red of Pallet Town, Kanto and on my right we have Paul of Veilstone City, Sinnoh who is just trailing behind Jimmy with only 1 point less," Mr. Goodshow cried into the microphone, "oh and here is the referee now, ladies and gentlemen stay in your seats as we are about to witness possibly one of the greatest Pokemon battles ever with these two trainers." "This battle is between Jimmy of New Bark Town, Johto and Paul of Veilstone City, Sinnoh. This is a 6 on 6 battle with substitutions allowed. Are both trainers ready," the ref yelled. Both Jimmy and Paul gave a thumbs up. "Trainers, please send out your first Pokemon," "Weavile, stand by for battle," Paul spoke calmly as he threw out his Pokeball, "Weavile," the Pokemon cried as it left the ball. "Steelix," Jimmy yelled as he threw his own Pokeball out, "Steelixxx," the Pokemon cried. "Battle begin," the ref cried. "Steelix use Flash Cannon," "Weavile use Ice Beam," "Weavile/Steelix," Both Pokemon cried as the moves clashed in the middle. "Weavile, Night Slash," "Steelix use Stone Edge," "Weavile Double Team," "Weavile, weavile, weavile," the Pokemon cried as it duplicated itself. "Steelix use Flamethrower on all of them," "Steelixxxxx," the Pokemon cried as it shot fire at the multiple forms of Weavile destroying all of them. "Dark Pulse," "Steeeel," Steelix cried out in pain as it was struck by Weavile from behind. "Steelix Flash Cannon," "Weavile Ice Beam," as the two moves clashed Weavile jumped through the smoke. "Weavile use Night Slash now," Paul yelled, "Weavileee," the Pokemon cried as it hit Steelix and then landed behind. Steelix fell and hit the ground. "Now Steelix use Iron Tail," Jimmy yelled. Weavile managed enough time to look back at the Pokemon it thought had fainted before it fainted. "Weavile is unable to battle the winner is Jimmy. Trainer Paul please send out your next Pokemon," the ref announced. "Nidoking, stand by for battle," "Steelix use Flash Cannon," "Nidoking Protect then Horn Drill." Jimmy couldn't do anything. Paul had taken a gamble and it had paid off. "Steelix is unable to battle the winner is Nidoking. Trainer Jimmy please send out your next Pokemon," the ref called out. "Go Umbreon," "Nidoking use Poison Jab," "Umbreon use Foul Play," the two moves clashed in the middle with neither Pokemon giving in until both Pokemon were pushed back because of the force created. "Nidoking use Thunderbolt," "Umbreon use Shadow Ball," the two moves met neither willing to give up any ground. "Now Umbreon use Foul Play and go diagonally," "um, um, um, um," the Pokemon cried as it moved quickly diagonally. "Umbreonnn," it cried louder as it tried to hit Nidoking in the head but Nidoking managed to block it. "Now Nidoking use Poison Jab to toss it," Paul yelled, "Nidokingggg," the Drill Pokemon cried as it sent Umbreon. "Umbreee," the Moonlight Pokemon cried out in pain. "Now Umbreon use Foul Play by using the momentum you gained," Jimmy yelled, "Umbreee," the Pokemon cried as it surrounded itself in a redish black aura before plummeting back down towards Nidoking. "Nidoking use Poison Jab, Go," Paul yelled. The stadium shook as the audience waiting in anticipation to see what the outcome of the two moves would be. Eventually it sparked an explosion that obscured everyone's vision. The smoke cleared relatively fast but it felt like the smoke would permanently be there. "Both Umbreon and Nidoking are unable to battle its a draw. Trainers please send out your next Pokemon," the ref yelled. "Drapion stand by for battle," Paul spoke calmly, "Gengar," Jimmy yelled, throwing out a Pokeball. "Gengar use Night Shade," Jimmy yelled, "Drapion use Pin Missile," Paul countered. "Drapion use Snarl," "Gengar use Energy Ball," "Draaa/Gengarrrr," Both Pokemon cried as they launched their attacks at each other. "Drapion use Cross Poison," "Gengar use Icy Wind," the poison laced cross was blown back at Drapion. "Now Gengar use Sludge Wave," "Draaa," Drapion cried as it was hit with Sludge Wave. When the smoke cleared Drapion desperately looked around trying to find Gengar who had seemed to have disappeared. Paul realised what was going on and yelled out, "Drapion use Cross Poison on the shadows," Paul yelled, "Draaa," Drapion cried as it launched a purple x into the ground and Gengar shot out of the ground into the air. "Now Drapion use Pin Missile," Paul yelled, "Gengar use Icy Wind," Jimmy yelled back, "Gengar use Night Shade," "Pin Missile again," the two moves met in the middle creating an explosion, "now Drapion use Snarl," the attack shot towards Gengar and it didn't have time to react being extremely fatigued. "Gengar is unable to battle the winner is Drapion. Trainer Jimmy please send out your next Pokemon," the ref spoke. "Go Pidgeot," Jimmy yelled, "Geotttt," the Pokemon cried out as it left its Pokeball, "Whats this," Mr. Goodshow spoke into the microphone, "it looks like Jimmy's Pidgeot is a different colour. How interesting," "Drapion use Toxic Spikes," Paul spoke calmly. Jimmy only looked and unlike Ash, Jimmy did not try and destroy the toxic spikes. Ash only destroyed them because it would be a slight irritation that would've worn his Eevee down because he was only using Eevee but Jimmy was already on his fourth Pokemon so he saw no need. "Drapion use Cross Poison," "Pidgeot use Heat Wave," "Drapion Pin Missile," "Pidgeot Brave Bird," Pidgeot sped towards Drapion (very reminiscent of the Sinnoh league with Drapion and Staraptor) "Draaa," Drapion cried out in pain, "Pidgeot use Brave Bird again," "Pidgeotttt," Pidgeot cried as it sped towards Drapion nearly touching the ground, "Wait Drapion," Paul called out, "wait... wait... Now use Snarl," Paul yelled, "Break through Pidgeot," Jimmy yelled, "Pidgeotttt," Pidgeot cried determined as it destroyed the Snarl, "Drapion get ready," Paul called out quietly so Jimmy couldn't hear, "Draaaa," Drapion cried out in pain, but before Pidgeot could get away, "Now Drapion," "Draaaa," Drapion yelled as it grabbed Pidgeot, "Drapion use Cross Poison," "Draaaa," Drapion yelled as it hit Pidgeot with Cross Poison from close range, "Now slam it into the ground," Paul yelled, "Draaa," Drapion yelled as it slammed Pidgeot into the ground where it was affected by Toxic Spikes, "Pidgeottttt," Pidgeot cried out as it was poisoned. "Pidgeot use Defog to escape," Jimmy yelled, "Pidgeotttt," Pidgeot cried as it began spinning and Drapion was forced to drop it. "Pidgeot use Heat Wave," "Drapion use Pin Missile," "Draaaa/Pidgeottttt," both Pokemon cried as they shot their attacks at each other, "Pidgeot use Brave Bird," Jimmy yelled, " Drapion use Cross Poison," Paul yelled back. Pidgeot shot forwards to catch Drapion off guard, Drapion tried to hit Pidgeot with Cross Poison but missed and Pidgeot hit Drapion. Both Jimmy and Paul watched waiting to see what would happen. ultimately being poisoned and using a move that gave recoil proved a bit too much for Pidgeot to take as well as being up against a powerful foe. "Pidgeot is unable to battle the winner is Drapion. Trainer Jimmy please send out your next Pokemon," the ref announced. "Go Tyranitar," Jimmy yelled, "Tyranitar Mega Evolve," "Tyrannnitarrrrr," the Pokemon cried as it changed form. "Drapion use Cross Poison," "Tyranitar use Stone Edge," "Draaaa/Tyrannnnn," Both Pokemon cried as they launched attacks at each other. Unfortunately for Drapion, Stone Edge cut right through Cross Poison because Tyranitar had a boost of power and Drapion was already weak. "Drapion is unable to battle so the winner is Tyranitar. Trainer Paul please send out your next Pokemon." the ref cried. "Ursaring stand by for battle," Paul yelled. Paul knew he had to be careful, Jimmy was like Ash. Unpredictable in their battle strategy. "Ursaring use Slash," Paul yelled, "Tyranitar use Dragon Claw," Jimmy retaliated. "Switch to Hammer Arm Ursaring," Paul yelled. Tyranitar was hit with a 4x supereffective move. "Tyranitar use Stone Edge," "Ursaring use Focus Blast," "Tyranitar use Flamethrower," "Take is Ursaring," Paul yelled. "Stop the attack Tyranitar," Jimmy countered, "Use Stone Edge," "Ursaring block it," Paul yelled, "Now use Focus Blast," Jimmy was caught off guard and suffered a voice crack so Tyranitar couldn't hear him and was hit dead on with a Focus Blast. 'stupid puberty,' Jimmy thought, "Stone Edge," it was Paul's turn to be surprised and unable to react because he underestimated Tyranitar and Ursaring was hit head on by Stone Edge. Paul was also surprised by the power of mega evolution although Paul did have a mega ring he only opted to use it in complete and utter emergencies. "Ursaring is unable to battle the winner is Tyranitar, will Trainer Paul please send out their next Pokemon," the ref yelled, "Torterra, stand by for battle," Paul yelled, "Torterra use Rock Slide," "Tyranitar use Flamethrower," "Torterraaaaaa/Tyranitarrrrr," both Pokemon cried out. Flamethrower managing to hold off Rock Slide due to Tyranitar being mega evolved. "Tyranitar use Flamethrower," Jimmy yelled, "Double Team," Paul retalitated, "Now use Giga Drain," "Terraaaa," Torterra cried as grassy vines shot out of the ground and wrapped around Tyranitar draining the energy from him. Torterra held it for about 10 seconds before Jimmy yelled out, "Tyranitar use Flamethrower to free yourself," "Tyrannnnn," Tyranitar cried out as hit burnt the vines that wrapped around it. "Double fist Ice Punch," Jimmy yelled, "Tyranitarrrrrr," the Pokemon cried as its fists were encompassed in ice. "Torterra use Iron Head," Paul yelled, "Torterraaaaaa," the Pokemon cried as its body was covered in white light and charged at Tyranitar. The two Pokemon clashed in the middle and sparks flew between them until there was a large explosion and it was revealed that both Pokemon were on the ground with Tyranitar being back to normal. "Both Tyranitar and Torterra are unable to continue will both trainers please send out their last Pokemon," the ref announced. "Go Typhlosion," Jimmy yelled, "Electivire, stand by for battle," Paul spoke calmly. "Typhlosion use Flare Blitz," Jimmy yelled, "Electivire use Wild Charge," these final two Pokemon would decide who won the match and who would remain unbeaten. "Electivire use Thunderbolt," Paul yelled, "Typhlosion, answer with Flamethrower." "Electivire use Darkest Lariat," "Typhlosion use Shadow Claw," "Electivire, Wild Charge," "Typhlosion, Flare Blitz," "Electivire use Darkest Lariat," "Typhlosion use Flamethrower," "Electivire use Protect," "Typhlosion use Flare Blitz," "Electivire use Wild Charge," "Shadow Claw," "Darkest Lariat," "Flamethrower," "Thunderbolt," "Flamethrower," "Protect." "Typhlosion use Flare Blitz," Jimmy yelled, "Electivire, Wild Charge," Paul retaliated. They met in the middle until both Pokemon were thrown back by the force generated. When the dust cleared, both Pokemon were still standing and the match was yet to be over. "Electivire use Darkest Lariat," Paul yelled, "Electivireeeee," Electivire cried as it began to spin towards Typhlosion while glowing a cross between black and red. "Wait for it to come to you Typhlosion," Jimmy spoke calmly, "wait. wait... ..., Now Typhlosion using Shadow Claw, grab Electivire's arms and toss it into the air," Jimmy yelled, "Typhlosionnnnnnnn," Typhlosion cried determined as it threw Electivire into the air. "Now Typhlosion use Flamethrower," Jimmy yelled, "Electivire use Wild Charge," Paul retaliated. (like Pikachu vs Latios in this situation except different Pokemon) "Electivireeeeee," Electivire cried as it charged straight into the beam of fire while glowing yellow. "Typhlosion switch it to Flare Blitz and meet Electivire head on," "Typhlosionnnnn," Typhlosion cried as it began to glow blue before it shot up to meet Electivire. "Typhlooooo/Electivireeeeee," Both Pokemon cried out as the battlefield became engulfed in an explosion of fire and lightning. When the dust cleared both Pokemon were still standing and staring each other down before finally, "Electiii," "Electivire is unable to battle, the winner is Typhlosion, so the match goes to Jimmy of New Bark Town, Johto," the ref announced. "What an amazing performance by both trainers on the battlefield. This was a remarkable show of skill and power. You all may have just all witnessed two of the most talented trainers in this tournament right here!" Mr. Goodshow yelled enthusiastically into the microphone. Paul and Jimmy shook hands before both leaving together to go see the new bracket that would come out soon. "But don't go far ladies and gentlemen." Mr. Goodshow began speaking into the microphone again, "I just want to remind everyone that with the end of the first of the bracket matches, the new brackets will be up shortly on our website, pokemonmasterstournament.com or avalible on your Pokedex if you registered with one. Moving on, now that we are moving into a new bracket we will announce the top 16 of the leaderboard. The full leaderboard if you see where you stand is up on our website, pokemonmasterstournament.com. Anyways, in first place we have Red Ketchum of Pallet Town, Kanto. In second place we have Green Oak also of Pallet Town, Kanto. In third place we have Jimmy Jackson of New Bark Town, Johto. In fourth place we have Silver Sakaki of Viridian City, Kanto. In fifth place we have Gold Jackson of New Bark Town, Johto. In sixth place we have White Touko of Floccesy Town, Unova. In seventh place we have Paul Shinji of Veilstone City, Sinnoh. In eighth place we have Blue Oak of Pallet Town, Kanto. In ninth place we have Lance Wataru of Viridian City, Kanto. In tenth place we have Sapphire Yuki of Littleroot Town, Hoenn. In eleventh place we have Emerald Kay of Violet City, Johto. In twelfth place Ruby Yuki of Littleroot Town, Hoenn. In thirteenth place we have Steven Stone of Mossdeep City, Hoenn. In fourteenth place we have Cynthia Shirona of Celestic Town, Sinnoh. In fifteenth place, Platinum Berlitz of Sandgem Town, Sinnoh. And finally in sixteenth place we have Mustard Freeman of the Isle of Armour in the distant land of the Galar region. So these our are current top sixteen competitors. We look forward to seeing what these great trainers can do in the remainer of this tournament," Mr. Goodshow yelled into the microphone.

"So we know Giovanni is suspicious of us," Jimmy spoke, "but we're unsure of how much he knows," "Giovanni has been watching us," Paul began, "I've seen him. He's been watching our battles, but I don't think he has spoken to Ash because otherwise Jimmy wouldn't of found this message while hacking into Ash's Pokedex." Paul showed all of his Seniors the message Jimmy had shown him before. "So Giovanni's master plan for world domination starts in less than 8 days now," Crystal asked grimly, "yes, we could have as much as 185 hours or no more than 24 hours, Giovanni is unpredictable we have to be ready. Who knows maybe Giovanni wanted us to find this to throw us off," Paul said, "but you can't tell mine and Jimmy's other seniors. The more people know the more likely Giovanni will start his plan earlier. I assume he already knows about all of us communicating together but thats the most he can know because the fate of the world lies in it," "if you have stuff in an apartment here I suggest moving to a different town or city because once Giovanni attacks I fear that their may no longer be a Lumiose City," Jimmy spoke, "but none of that matters if Ash finds out about what we are doing here. He must remain blind to the truth so then we can catch him off guard. Paul and I will be able to defeat him together but if only one of us is fighting him it will be a lot closer. If we defeat Ash, he will try and escape. That cannot be allowed to happen. The girl, Dawn. She is the key to bringing Ash back to himself before everything. Before his friends betrayed him. Before Giovanni and Team Rocket destroyed him." "So stay with at least one person who you trust, never go somewhere alone," Gold asked, "yes," Paul replied, "Giovanni is the most powerful trainer in the world right now. He has both Zygarde's, both Deoxys, Latios and Latias and Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno and Entei, Suicune and Raikou," then Jimmy spoke, "Ash must be decieved. The deception must work."
