Someone asked and my enby heart just couldn't say no

Also I had jasmine tea today and I finally understand Iroh
_____

"So, two whole weeks in a row, huh? Iroh says that's a new record," I said to Toph as she walked into the Jasmine Dragon. She took her seat at the usual table. "What can I get for you today."

"Jasmine tea, but with that weird stuff Iroh invented, bubble or whatever it was called."

I raised an eyebrow. "Sure, but that might be a few minutes, we never get any orders for it so it's never premade," I said.

"Fine by me."

I gave the order to Iroh and walked back out to her. "Anyway, I won't be here for the next week if you're planning on coming in again."

"Oh, why is that?" Toph asked.

"Family reunion, or at least that's what they're calling it. Honestly it's probably just another 'hey we haven't seen Y/n in awhile, let's get them back out here' ploy. They can always just ask, normally." I sat down across from Toph, since no one else was in store.

"Where are you going then? Maybe I can come with you?"

"Really? Are you sure? I mean, if you think I'm bad they're 10 times worse than me."

"I lived with Sokka for almost three months straight. I can handle them," she said.

"If you're sure."

We left in the morning to the small village east of Ba Sing Se where I grew up. Normally it'd be two days walk but with the new road and carriage we could get there in just a few hours. I sighed, and hopped out of the back as we arrived. Toph followed me down, though I still didn't understand why she decided to come.

"Y/n!" I heard my parents call out. Reunion or not everyone lived here except for me, cousins, aunts, grandparents, everyone. Though they were all inside. Mom and dad engulfed me in a hug.

"Okay, okay. I'm here."

"Oh and you brought a friend!" My mom turned to Toph. "That's so great, they didn't really have that many at school," she said to Toph.

"Mom I had tons of friends, I just never brought them home," I said.

"Sure. You always said it was because the school was too far during the breaks. You know if you just went to my school like I asked that wouldn't have been a problem."

"If they had become a blacksmith with me none of their friends would deny coming home, no matter how far the school was," my dad said. They began arguing again.

"Over a days ride by carriage, honey," my mom retorted.

"And that's why I chose the school in Ba Sing Se," I said. "It's the closest one and it's my decision."

"You're right, I'm sorry honey," mom said. "We brought you all the way out here and we argue almost immediately."

"So tell us about your friend."

"This is Toph, she's a customer at The Jasmine Dragon and we became friends after what, the ninth day?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, how sweet."

"You should come see the first blade they ever crafted, it's amazing skill for being so young."

"Y/n is amazing at any skill they take up, which also includes embroidery, you should see their first pattern."

"Well, I'm blind," Toph waved a hand in front of her face, "so I can't see them at all."

"Oh, we're so sorry!"

"Please, forgive us."

"Hey mom, dad, why don't you go find the old tea set and I can show you what I learned from Iroh," I spoke up, changing the subject.

"Good idea dear, we'll be right back." The two went inside the house.

"Your parents really are something," Toph said.

"I told you so."

"Though I have to say, I like you much better." She grabbed my hand, pulling me inside.
