She was only home a week when Harry, Hermoine and Ron and her decided to get drunk. The adults had gone to bed and Lyria knew the unlocking charm her fathers used for the liquor cabinet. Any reasons for not liking each other were irrelevant once they had enough alcohol in their system. Hermione talked about her life as a muggle born and constantly facing discrimination because of it. Ron spoke of living in all of his brother's shadows. Harry opened up about living in the cupboard and how the Dursleys treated him. Lyria was horrified to hear of the starvation and abuse he had endured. She laid her head on his shoulder as she opened up about her different foster families and the different kinds of abuse she had endured. When Hermione and Ron had passed out on the couch, Lyria and Harry sat by the fire. They had shared a sort of kinship after hearing about each other's similar stories. Lyria had been too drunk to filter herself very well and after some silence, Lyria told Harry that she was Nonbinary. He didn't have much of a reaction, too drunk to think clearly.
The next morning Lyria came downstairs with a pounding hangover. Slightly horrified about how much she had said last night. She trusted Harry though and knew that he would keep her secrets. Years of sneaking around, trying to avoid angry foster fathers made her walk silently without meaning to. So when she cracked the door that led to the kitchen, nobody heard her. She heard her name so stopped to listen before making people aware of her. Her fathers were staring at the trio in shock. Not saying a word. Harry was sneering in disgust as he spoke.
"She's pretending to be something that she's not. What have those Slytherins done to her." Lyria winced at the incorrect pronouns. It didn't bother her much when people who didn't know her gender identity misgendered her but when someone did it knowingly, it was painful. Hermoine looked horrified. Ron laughed.
"She can't be serious can she? There's no way, it had to be a joke. She would never affiliate herself with those disgusting pervs." Hermoine spoke, clearly bothered.
"I always knew the brat was a freak. She needs some serious fucking help." Ron laughed at his dark humor.
"She should just throw herself off the astronomy tower, do us all a favor." Harry said, completely serious.
In that moment a sob broke through Lyria's throat. Five pairs of eyes snapped to her. Two with disgust, one filled with horror and two looking so shocked that they couldn't form words. She stumbled backward, running into the table in the living room. The look of betrayal broke her father's hearts and they snapped out of their trance. They were horrified at the trio for their words and opinions but were too shocked when Harry spoke of their child coming out to Harry. They had absolutely no idea and though they were fully accepting, it took them by surprise. They moved to follow but Lyria was rushing out the door and apparating before they could catch up. The two whirled around to the trio, ready to chew them out for saying these horrible words towards their beloved child.
