"No! Are you crazy?!" Rosé was clearly flustered as she shook her hands in front of herself frantically in denial. "How could I possibly like Jisoo?"
"Oh, come on, don't give me that" Jennie simply shook her head. "You're literally blushing right now."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"Fine" Rosé relented with a sigh, which caught my attention. "But that doesn't mean I'm crushing on Kim freaking Jisoo."
Not going to lie, I'm not sure which was more offensive: the fact that she looked genuinely disgusted at the idea, or the way she said my name; either way, at least I could breathe again at the comfort of knowing Jennie was just talking shit out of her ass and I was off the hook here.
"Yes you are!"
"How can you be so sure?" Rosie challenged, looking annoyed. "I could've literally been talking about anyone else."
"Oh yeah? Then who else were you talking about?" Jennie prompted with a pointed look, crossing her arms over her chest as a challenge. "Cause I don't know about you, Rosie, but I don't know that many guys at our school who fit the description: thoughtless, careless, hot-headed and just plain rude. It has to be Jisoo."
This fucking b-
Without meaning to, I dropped the broom with a loud bang, which startled them both. I was just about to put Jennie's pretentious ass in her place when the most unexpected person popped around the wall just then.
"Rosie, you're here! I've been looking for you everywhere" it was Jimin, and he was carrying a heavy-looking bag.
I immediately stiffened when his eyes locked with mine and for a split second I felt the urge to just turn around and walk away, but before I knew it, he was already addressing me.
"Oh hey, Jisoo-ssi!" he smiled broadly at me.
"Hey..." I trailed off awkwardly.
I could feel Jennie's mocking stare on me but I was too focused on Rosé's shocked eyes open wide as saucers, looking directly back at me like a deer caught in the headlights. This whole situation was already weird enough.
"Right. That's my cue to go" Jennie said as she walked away quickly.
I could tell she was mocking me and I wanted to wipe that teasing smirk off of her face, but before I knew it, Rosé's brother's voice was bringing me back to reality once again.
"What are you girls doing here?" Jimin asked, looking between Rosé and I with curiosity.
But before his sister could answer, and on a closer look, he gasped loudly and leaned in closer to her face to inspect it.
"Have you been crying? Your eyes are all red" he said, his voice laced with genuine concern. "Rosie, what's wrong?"
Blinking rapidly, Rosé seemed to fall back into reality and she immediately let out a nervous chuckle to try and make light of the situation. Have I mentioned how terrible of a liar she is?
"This? It's just allergies, don't worry" she shook her head. "But what are you doing here, Chim?"
"You forgot your lunch today" he replied, handing her the heavy bag.
She smiled at him and mumbled a quick thanks before looking back at me. I had been quiet throughout their entire exchange.
"Were you looking for me, Jisoo?"
"And why would I do that?" I scoffed and looked away.
She looked at me like I had grown a second head and I realized I sounded crazy but really, what choice did I have? I needed to keep my cool façade one way or another.
