Jess's POV

"How's my favorite patient?" Doc asked, as I got settled in a chair in an infusion clinic.

"You'd have to ask them," I said, trying to get comfortable.

"The chair reclines," Doc said, showing me how to recline it. It was a lot more comfortable than having to sit straight up.

"Alright. So, this is gamma globulin. Hopefully, it'll help you feel better, give you some more energy and help those sores in your throat heal.  But, I have to warn you, it might make you feel cold, and nauseated. I'll get a bin for you, in case you need to throw up, okay?"

I nodded.

Dad was holding my hand as we watched the nurse start an IV and hook up the new med. I curled up in the chair.

I must have fallen asleep because Dad was shaking me awake.

"Jess, are you okay?"

"I'm really cold," I said, my teeth chattering.

"I'll get you a blanket, okay?"

I nodded.  He came back with a warmed blanket and covered me  up.

"I don't like this," I said to Dad through chattering teeth.

"I know baby, but hopefully, it'll help you feel better. Let's give it a chance, and see how it goes, okay?"

I nodded.

Somehow I managed to fall asleep again, and was woken up when the infusion was done. All in all, it took about an hour, apparently.

"Just lay there for a few minutes, in case you feel nauseated, okay?" the nurse said. I nodded.

"How're you feeling?" Dad asked.

I responded by picking up the bin and throwing up into it. I threw up a few more times and then lay back. The nurse came and took the bin and brought me a new one. I didn't throw up again.

"If you're feeling up to it, you can go," Doc said, looking at my chart.  "We'll see you back here in three days, okay?"

"I have to go through this again?" I asked, as Dad helped me up.

"Every three days," Doc said. "We'll see how the next one goes, and then if we can make it two weeks, we'll check your blood work again, and see if it's helping at all."

I shrugged. Doc gave Dad some instructions and things to look for while he helped me put my jacket on and we started walking out of the clinic.

"Dad, I'm too tired to walk," I said, leaning against the wall.

"Okay, baby," he said, and picked me up. He carried me down to the car and placed me in the back seat so I could lie down and sleep.

"How'd it go?" Mom asked as Dad carried me into the house.

"We have to monitor her for a fever, especially if it goes over 104. If it does we have to take her to the hospital.  It really wiped her out. She was cold and threw up afterwards. Let me get her up to bed," I heard him say.

"Alright, you. Rest up, I'll come up and check on you in a little while, okay?" Dad said, as he put me in my bed. I nodded and rolled over.

Brendon's POV

I went back downstairs after putting Jess to bed after her infusion. I didn't know if this was going to be something that would be good for her.  She was already cold all the time, and this new med made her cold, and then throw up. It took whatever wind was left in her sails, out.
