Sniper x Reader

You are standing outside, watching the rain fall from the back porch. The rain has always calmed you. Suddenly, the back door opens and you see Sniper step out to stand beside you.

“What are you doin’ out here?” He asks. You shrug and continue to listen to the heavy pitter-patter of the falling water drops. A crack splits the air, and lightning flashes in the sky. You notice Sniper jump out of the corner of your eye.

“Afraid of lightning, are you?” You tease.

“What?” Sniper seems disgusted at such a confrontation. “No! I just-” He is interrupted by another strike of lightning that sends him cowering to the wooden deck. You suppress a laugh. “I um… slipped.” He tried to explain over the rain. You stick your hand out to help him up. He takes it and your eyes meet.

It’s as if you’re meeting for the first time. You never noticed before how his eyes sparkle, deep in those emerald depths. He doesn’t even notice when lightning illuminates the dark night once again. The moment lasts a heartbeat, but you wish with all your heart it had lasted much longer. Sniper stands. His face has turned red as a cherry. 

“I-I forgot something… that Spy needed help with. I’ll uh… see ya.” He stammers, running back inside. You feel your own cheeks becoming hot and look away.

“You should go do that, then.” You whisper to yourself. Gazing back into the hypnotizing rain, you smile.
