Danke! (I'm running out of thank-you ideas... any good ones?)

Medic has been sneaking glances at you all day when he thinks you aren't looking. You can't say you aren't guilty of the same thing, but it is starting to make you uncomfortable. It's been three days since you found Archimedes for him. He's done small things to show he's interested; brushing by you when he walks past, asking you to help him in the lab when he never asks anyone, "acidentally" sitting right beside you at meals and, not to mention, casting small looks at you. You even caught him staring at you yesterday before he'd finally realized that you had been looking back at him. You think of him, three days ago, when he'd looked into your eyes. It's almost like he's casted some sort of spell on me, you think as you stir a cup of coffee, staring wistfully into space.

Sniper pulls out a chair and sits beside you. You look at him, snapping out of your trance.

"Coffee?" He asks.

"Yep." You reply.

"At five in the afternoon?"

"Mm-hmm." You take a sip. "I plan on staying up later."

"How much later?"

"Until this coffee wears off."

He laughs a little bit. "It is good?"

"No." You both laugh for a moment. You find Medic beckoning you over to him from outside. You sigh. "I'll be right back." You stand, leaving your coffee and walking out the back door. "Did you need something?" You ask, yawning.

"Come look what I found!" He sounds excited. You follow him, wanting to get back to your coffee. He leads you fairly far away from the base to where an abandoned barn lies. You've seen the barn from when you climb the few trees around the base and always yearned to explore it, but never really found the time to do it. He stops.

"What now?" You ask him.

"Look." He opens a creaky gate and looks inside. You squint, trying to see in the dark barn in the dying light. A pair of beautiful blue eyes flash back at you. You gasp.

"Who's that?" You ask Medic, who's smiling at you.

"Go in and look," He urges. "She won't claw you."

You creep inside the barn cautiously. The eyes blink at you, then go slightly backwards. You stop. You don't want to scare her- whatever she was. "Come here," You soothe. "I won't hurt you." The eyes stare at you for a moment, then step forward into the dim light so you can see their owner better. It's a cat. She looks to be only a few months old, six at the very most, and is calico-patterned. She slinks up to you, close to the ground and ears flat. You pick her up and bring her outside. "She's so cute!" You say to Medic. "Where did you find her?"

"Well, I came in here yesterday because I thought I'd forgotten something. When I opened one of the gates and walked inside, she was curled up in a corner. So I picked her up and examined her. She warmed up to me, and I wanted to give her to you." You can't see Medic's face very well since the sun has already gone down, but you can see him smiling. You look at him. "Thank you." You say. He rubs the back of his neck.

"It was nothing. We should get back to the base." He suggests with a glance at the black sky. You look up. There are no clouds covering the glittering stars, and they shimmer like the lake you once went to as a kid. The crisp night air fills your lungs. You look back at Medic. He can't stop gazing at the stars. They reflect his sapphire-blue eyes and make them twinkle with a hypnotic glow

"Medic," You say, snapping him out of his trance and, you have to confess, your own. He shakes his head and looks at you quizzically. "The base?" You remind him.

"Oh... right." He almost seems crestfallen at the thought of leaving the beauty of the stars, but begins to trek toward the base nevertheless. You follow him, cradling the calico bunch of fur in your hands carefully.

"Are you going to name her?" Medic asks when you are about halfway back to the base. You think on this for a moment.

"Yes." You decide after a while.

"Well?" He prompts.

"I think I should name her Gemina."

"Why?"

"Because her eyes sparkle like gems." You tell him. That wasn't the first half-lie you've told Medic directly today.

"Like yours." He says. You stop.

"Mine?"

He nods. "I never really knew how to tell you how I felt. It's just that... ever since I saw you, I thought you were beautiful. You've always had this sort of.. glow. I don't know." He stops, looking you straight in the eyes. Now you can't look away from him. "I hope you feel the same way."

You smile and take one of his hands in yours. "I see no reason why I shouldn't." You tell him.
