               You sit on the couch, sipping your favorite wine. Spy walks toward you with his own glass and asks if he may join you. You agree, of course. You can’t help but noticing he looks extra sharp today as he sits beside you.

               You have always admired- no, always respected, you tell yourself- the Frenchman. You set down your glass on the side table and turn on your favorite movie. Spy stands and flicks the lights off. You notice he has sat a little closer to you than he originally did. You convince yourself it was just a coincidence.

               Halfway through the movie, you find your glass completely empty. You start to stand to go fill it again, but Spy stops you and offers to do it for you. You calmly try to refuse and assure him you are perfectly capable, but he insists. You shrug and hand him your glass. He jumps up and swiftly goes to fill your cup. He comes back a minute later with your full glass. When he settles back down on the sofa, you’re sure he is purposely closer.

                He puts his arm around you, and you blush. Deep down, you know you love him and want to be with him, but are too scared to voice it out loud. You aren’t sure what he would say.

               Once the movie is over, he starts talking to you. It doesn’t last long. Once you are finished, it is nearly midnight, and you are brutally tired. Spy plays another movie- a French romantic comedy titled Amélie. When he is back on the couch, he is right beside you. You watch the movie a little longer, until you can hardly keep your eyes open. Eventually, you resort to leaning on Spy’s shoulder for support to keep your head up. You close your eyes. Almost to your surprise, he lets you lean on him. He wraps his arm around your shoulders. You dream of your possible future together all night.
