Maybe the worst thing about heartbreak
Isn't actually the breaking of the heart
Instead,
It is the aftermath who comes
Slipping as silently as a shadow
Through the cracks of your window
After the overwhelming sense of emotions
(Ones that cannot be named)
Finally fades away
Into an ache
Settling down and making a home
Out of your heart
With no tears to help
Cry away the nights
Where you lay alone
And numb
And wide awake
