i sat down at my gate, pulling my suitcase in front of me and taking out my phone.

i was ready for vacation. flying to britain was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, and i was beyond ecstatic to go.

i was planning on flying there and having an old friend pick me up. but that was in a few hours. for now, i had to wait until we were allowed to board.

i opened the messages app, finding my best friend's contact. (the one who lived in america.)

taylor 🕺

i finally made it to the gate. tsa was
a pain in the ass

wonderful!
i'm gonna miss you

it's only a week. i'll be back before
you even notice.

i don't know about that

whatever you say

seen anyone cute yet?

airport romances aren't as common as you
think

well you never know
the girl or guy of your dreams could be
sitting across from you at this very moment

yeah, i don't think a married woman or
a wrinkly man are exactly my type

how many people are on the plane?

i think 50 at most. it's supposed to be a
small flight

ah shit. the statistics are down even
further

if anyone who is particularly beautiful sits
down, you will be the first to know

i really appreciate that, y/n/n

after about a 20 minutes of waiting around, they finally called us to board the plane.

the group was only about a handful of people, maybe 30-45 people at most. i texted taylor that i was boarding and slipped my phone into my pocket.

i gave them my ticket and boarded the plane, slipping my suitcase into the overhead compartments and sitting in my seat.

a window seat. perfect.

i pulled out my phone and texted taylor, telling them i was on the plane.

i pulled out a book from my purse, flipping to the bookmarked page. i started reading until i saw someone sit in the seat beside me out of the corner of my eye.

i briefly looked up to register their face then looked back down at my book.

wait. he looks familiar.

i looked back at the man beside, taking a quick glance to take in all the features i could. that's when it clicked.

holy shit. that's ben barnes.
