"Y/n..."

The said girl had her knees wrapped with her arms, covering her face as she let out a disappointed sob. She was unable to save the twins' mother from the fire.

Kaeya stood there, watched as she sobbed helplessly, as if her sob could bring back the dead. Even he couldn't do anything but just stood by her side.

"Why does it feel so painful...? It's just a lost... right? How can it be this.. hollow?" She spoke in between the sobs, leaning against the wall where no one other than the two knew bout their wherebouts.

"We did our best, she's in a better place."

"Better place? Everyone says that.. but what about her children?" She blurted out, fist clenching as the tears couldn't stop running down.

"If only I'm faster, then maybe she will be alive." Why did it feel so empty? Her heart that felt like a screw kept stabbing her heart, the fire went rampage in her chest. Kaeya sat beside the h/c haired lady, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.

He wasn't the best in comfort, but of course, he couldn't bring himself to ignore the girl. "The past is the past, let it be. Things are made, lived, and withered. You said that to me once," he whispered softly, pulling her in.

He was like the brother for her一however, she couldn't help but feel the conflicting emotions. "I killed her.."

"No, you didn't. You saved everyone, in fact, you've saved her beloved children."

And all that left was the sobbing that came from her, slowly dwelling in the sadness twice deeper. A life to be lost was the greatest pain she could never forget.

The cold night sky sent shivers down her spine as she instinctively rubbed her hands, searching for the warmth underneath. It's pouring, in result, the weather became cold.

Her new house had just finished the construction, her mind twinkled to the dance a week ago. The only moment she could live like in fairytale's dreams. "What a beautiful day... but painful." She swore to herself that her feet were dying, even if it was a week ago.

Her feet were still on the cold bucket water, trying to sooth the sore. She had herself covered in blanket and pillows on the couch. For now, Y/n couldn't afford a bed一deciding to sleep on the couch instead.

"Y/n, how can you not have enough moras to afford a bed?" She muttered to herself, no response came as expected. If there was a reply, she swore she'll get out of the house.

She stretched her body, letting it all burned. A small knock echoed from the wooden door, snapping her attention. It was merely two a.m., who could it be?

Knock knock

Her e/c eyes trailed for a weapon一anything...! A kitchen knife, frying pan, pen, or the sword upstairs, or... the pillow she was clutching on to. "Who is it?" She asked, the pouring went louder than before.

Knock knock

With no other choices left, she stood up with the pillow and with every ounce of courage, her foot took a step.

Back during her time as a commander, it was normal for her to be followed, snuck in, and sent threats一part of her normal life as an assertive knight. However, the pain on her chest from months ago stayed still, she could feel the wound of the arrow dug in.

Her hand landed on the doorknob, twisting it slightly and let the door opened ajar. "How can I一Sir Kaeya?"

Even to this point, she couldn't be less surprised if anyone who came visiting her at two a.m.
