Change is consistent and inconsistent. It is akin to Night, which comes and goes consistently, expected. But what it brings along with it, will forever remain a mystery, an unpredictability. Sometimes, it brings a sweet and refreshing breeze to cool the tired body of a hardworking peasant, at other times, it brings dark, savage creatures that is capable of wrecking havoc in rich and poor household alike. It brings darkness, which at some point, terrifies the strongest man, for how can he fight, without knowing what he's up against?

But then, it's a blessing to those who want to commit heinous crimes. It's the veil that protects them. The lulling spell that she, Night, puts on us, is strong enough to smother any scream.

But unfortunate are the few wretched souls, on whom however strong, Night's spells are, spend the dark hours thrashing, whimpering and scared. Those nightmares, they rigorously keep those poor souls awake, and afraid. Even when Night joined hands with Hypnos, she wasn't able to help those accursed mortals.

Only Day could cure the terror inspired by nightmares, and only dreams could provide respite.
And so, Day and Night together created a Soulmate. Someone capable of protecting the cowering being, from the haunting visions, and wracking sobs alike.

Kahoko felt numb. And tired. She felt so drained, emotionally and physically. She pushed her mother's wheelchair easily, mindlessly. Navigating quietly, through the driveway of her cousin's house, she was lost in her thoughts. And they weren't very nice ones.

When her mother had reluctantly decided that they must change towns, and move out of their dear old house to her cousin's, Kahoko hadn't said a word. Her friends had, yes, but she had kept quiet. She didn't want to make another choice she'd grow to regret later on.

And so, here she was now, pushing her wheelchair bound mother, and dreading the weeks ahead, which she'd be spending in this damned town, with her cousin brother, Keisuke and his mother.

"Kaho! Kyouko-san! You arrived earlier than expected! Kei!! They're here! Help the driver get the luggage in, kay? Let me help you Kyouko!", came the cheery voice of her aunt Yumiko, and despite her gloom, Kahoko smiled to herself.

Dear aunt Yumi! Ever the cheerful one, what would we do without you!

She gave her aunt a small smile, as the older woman hastened to take control of the chair.

"I'll go and help with the bags and stuff" she mumbled.

"Kei will do that dear, you must be tired!", her aunt admonished her. She gave a reassuring smile, and shook her head. She really was past the point of getting tired now. All she really wanted was some peace and quiet, to mull over the stuff that had happened over the past few days. Sighing, she turned away from the pair of women, and walked towards the trailer.
