Mikey and Draken cycled peacefully, side by side.
Mikey really enjoyed gentle carefree moments like these, when he had nothing to think about, or do. When he was with his friends, or Emma and his grandfather. They somewhat filled the void created by the death of his brother, even if not completely.
An immeasurable nostalgic ache filled his mind and he tried to gulp it down, focusing instead on the steady thrum of the bicycles, the tranquil evening, Ken-chin's comforting presence beside him.
But somehow once again Mikey found his mind wandering. This time to a blond haired resilient boy. Although he was just as he had told him, 'lamer than his niichan', Takemicchi did remind him of his cool big brother.
The unbending will to not break or be broken, the unquenchable thirst to prove themselves, and the fierce resolve to protect their close ones rather than themselves.
His brother wasn't an overly strong person, but he had the guts to believe in himself, and take down an overly strong guy.
He remembered how Takemicchi had fought. No, not fought. How he hadn't given up, how he had stood up to Kiyomasa again and again. And again. After being beaten, kicked, punched, struck. Repeatedly.
He really hoped that Takemicchi would join the Toman one day. That was the kind of people he needed in his Toman, not nasty diabolical clods like that barbaric Kiyomasa.
As soon as he thought about the idiotic male, all his earlier good mood vanished and a fierce scowl took over his pleasant face, startling poor Draken, who happened to glance over.
"Oi Mikey!" Draken aimed a kick at Mikey's bicycle, in an attempt to slap him out of whatever reverie had captured him. It worked (lmao) and Mikey gawked at his friend like a startled cat. Draken grinned and then suddenly started riding ahead. Mikey needed only a minute to gather his wits about him, before he followed his friend at top speed.

"Haha I win Ken-chin!!" Mikey whooped as he skidded into the driveway of his house, Draken just a few inches behind him.

"Hahaha talk about a sore loser!" Mikey sniggered.
