"Byyyeee!" Nudge waved as Iggy and I exited the shop and walked into the chill autumn air. There were a lot of people shopping for Halloween already, since it had just entered that fateful season. Dry autumn leaves scattered the streets, being crunched under the feet of many children and adults as they traversed the long pathways.I took in a deep breath as the wind flew through my hair. Iggy chuckled at something, I assumed me, but I didn't care. Autumn was so pretty and colorful, it was always my favorite time of year. Well, maybe Winter was too. It was hard to decide.
"Where are we going?" I asked Iggy, looking up at his bright blue eyes. He was smiling down at me, his strong arms crossed. It was very, very apparent he had been working out. He probably had a 6 pack, but his arms were really what got me. They looked strong, like he could protect me from anything if I was wrapped up in them.
"Wanna go collect conkers?" He grinned childishly. My heart skipped a beat, not because of his smile - okay, maybe partially because of his smile - but because he remembered.
"Conkers! We should collect some and bring them back!" I blubbered as I dragged Iggy over to the base of the tree.
"Can we eat them?" Iggy asked curiously.
"No, these aren't edible ones. But they're really fun to find and open and really smooth once you open them too. They should be easy for you to find - see? It feels like this." I put one of the prickly shells in his hand.
"You know I do." I grinned. He laughed and took my hand, intertwining his fingers with mine. I remembered how many times I had done that for him, took his hand to help him around, and I couldn't help but feel a little sad. I was so, so happy that Iggy could see again, but it felt like a form of communication between us had disappeared. I no longer had to talk to him endlessly about the scenery, something that I secretly loved to do. It felt nice to describe the surrounding I could see so clearly.
"Sweetheart." Iggy's voice brought me back to reality. "What's up, huh? You look sad." His voice was quiet, but due to my hearing I could still understand his words. The sound around me was easy to block out if it was his voice I was listening to.
"I'm not." I noticed his look, and sighed. "I'm not sad. Just... I used to describe everything around us. I liked doing it, but I can't do it anymore without it being weird. I was just thinking Igs, really."
Iggy hummed in response. He stopped walking, but kept his hand clasped around mine so I couldn't slip away even if I tried. When I turned to look at him, his eyes were closed. My heart skipped a beat as my cheeks began to flush. Iggy grinned at me and squeezed my hand. "Go ahead, I'll stay like this until we get to the park." He decided.
My lips parted, but no words came out. Something so stupid as closing his eyes had me falling for him over again. He did that often - one simple gesture made me melt like ice cream on a warm day. Iggy tilted his head, yet didn't open his eyes. "You okay, sweetheart?" He asked.
My body reacted before my brain could catch up. I pushed him into an alleyway, out of the sight of anyone in the street. I pushed him up against a wall, careful not to do it too hard, and kissed him. He flinched at the sudden motion of being shoved into somewhere dark, but he trusted me. He bent his neck slightly to kiss me better, but I didn't want him taking over the kiss like he always did. My turn.
I pushed his head back against the wall again and stood on my toes to try to be level with him. It didn't work as well as I wanted it to, so I tried something I hadn't tried before. I focused on my shoes, and I slowly began levitating. I did it just high enough to have my head above his, and deepened the kiss.
