It was the night before Sophomore year and Aires was running around the loft searching for her phone which had magically disappeared. Lana Del Rey played quietly in the background as she stormed through each room.

"Oh my fucking god!" She huffed out as she threw the pillows off the couch, not sparing a glance as to where they were landing.

Not only was she growing annoyed at the fact that her phone was missing, she was growing more concerned for her sister Laura as the days passed. Laura was one of the three Hale siblings that were alive, she was also Aires 'legal guardian', though she was barely ever around. From the age of ten, Aires had practically raised herself, though she wasn't complaining.

It was better she was left alone.

At the beginning of the summer, Laura had told the girl that she was going out of town for a few weeks. It wasn't unusual for her sister to leave for weeks on end, but she always stayed in contact with Aires throughout her time away. The blonde had never bothered to ask what 'business' she was going to be taking care of or even what Laura was up to seeing as she would never get an answer out of her. Instead, Laura made the promise to be home before Aires started Sophomore year, but as the clock passed midnight Aires knew that she had broken her promise.

Again.

As a frown morphed onto her face, she considered calling Derek, her older brother who she hadn't spoken to in over a year. The last time the three spoke was when they argued over if Aires was a danger or not- a once popular topic amongst her family.

As time moved forward- as she grew older, Aires was becoming stronger and more powerful, so the question of her becoming 'dangerous' was brought up time and time again. There was a solution, one that was temporary but never the less still a solution. She had a necklace that helped to contain some of the power she held, refraining her from losing control.

Though that didn't stop Derek from believing that she wasn't a threat, Laura however disagreed. Her sister was the only one who had ever had faith in her, one of the people that had stood by her side and fought for her time and time again. Despite knowing what Aires was like before her necklace, she still believed that Aires could control what was inside of her. The conversation ended with Laura kicking Derek out of the loft, his last words being,

"She's a ticking time bomb, the longer she stays in this town the closer she is to breaking, she's going to be the death of us all."

It may have been said in the heat of the moment but that didn't stop his last words from still eating at Aires whenever she thought of her brother. Derek, her brother, her protector. Even he had so little faith in her, nobody believed in her. She would always be a wreck in their eyes, a liability.

Pushing the thought of him and Laura aside, she continued to pace around the loft in her frantic search for her phone. Suddenly, a loud crash from her hallway sent a rush of chills through the Hale, it couldn't have been Laura, she would've called before hand. Without a second thought, she snatched the closest thing to her to use as a weapon. Whilst holding on to a hardcover book, she slowly crept her way towards the dark hallway, hearing someone swear at the noise they made.

"Dude, what the fuck are you doing, your gonna wake up her sister."

"Relax, if her sister is anything like her she's not waking up."

"Well keep it down dumbass, she's gonna kill us if we- AHHHHHH."

Stiles let out an ear piercing scream as a book collided with the left side of his face, causing Scott to let out an equally as loud scream. The book continued to collide with his face whilst Scott frantically stumbled around, searching for a light switch.
