"You guys are fucked up" I stare at uncle Antonio and Xavier, who start laughing like they didn't just accidentally shoot a random guy walking down the street.
And instead of shouting, the guy started apologizing after realizing who they were. And now he's being taken to the hospital by guards.
"It was an accident" Xavier shrugs, patting my head and I shrug it off, getting bored.
"Can we go there?" I notice a bookstore a few shops away and they mumble a 'sure' before we make our way there, my mood getting slightly happier.
"You can look around, we'll be back" Uncle Antonio says and I nod, waiting for them to leave before walking in, finally alone without someone following me.
Walking around the aisles, looking through the book covers, trying to decide which one I should get.
A book catches my eyes, It's hardcover done in matte black with a glossy black on top for the design. Picking it up, I look at the back, looking for the synopsis but it was completely blank.
Before I could keep it back- "That's a good choice" I hear a voice and Look up from the book to be met with a guy, seemingly younger looking than me. "What's it about?" I ask.
"A girl moves to New York to stay with her brother, ends up falling in love with his best friend but what she doesn't know is someone else loves-well that wouldn't be the correct word"
He thinks for a moment.
"Obsessed. That's the perfect word for it. She falls for her brother's best friend but she doesn't know that there's another guy that is obsessed with her."
"Does she know the guy?" I ask, sitting on the ground in front of the aisle and the guy sits in front of me. "Yeah"
"In fact- she kind of trusts him" He places his jaw on his palm. "What happens next" I get invested in the story.
"She starts trusting both the guy (who's obsessed with her) and her brother's best friend"
"Isn't trusting the brother's best friend a good thing if she loves him?"
The guys chuckles, shaking his head slightly. "Not necessarily"
"Go on" I mumble
"Since she grows closer to the best friend, the other guy's obsession turns deadly to the point he wouldn't mind killing her if it meant she was away from every other guy"
"What about the brother? Does he know?" I bite onto my thumb nail.
"Not until the very end... which was also a bad idea. If he had known earlier, most of it wouldn't even had happened" he shrugs.
"What happens to the girl?"
He shrugs. "She gets her bittersweet ending"
"And the guy?"
"Oh" he chuckles "he isn't done yet"
I stand up, my mind filled with this story. "Any more books you recommend?" I smile and he stands up as well, walking beside me, stacking up my hand with books.
"How old are you?" I finally ask, my curiosity getting the best of me. "18"
"What about you?"
"17"
"Would you like something? Since you were kind enough to tell me about the book-" I cut myself off and he smiles. "I basically live here- thank you for asking tho"
We walk towards the cashier and the woman smiles at the guy, him smiling back. "You work here?"
"Yeah, My grandma owns this place" he glances at the lady, pricing my books. "I'll be coming here more often then" I smile at them both before paying by cash since I still hadn't gotten my card.
"You wanna grab lunch?" I ask the kid- well he wasn't really a kid but I couldn't help but call him that, looking at his cute facial structure.
"Only if you're paying" he grins and I chuckle, nodding. "Of course"
"What your name by the way?"
"Athena, and you?"
"Matteo"
"What's good around here?" I ask and he skips happily, across the street, towards the small cafe and I follow behind with the bags in my hand. "Ciao Matteo" The elder guy smiles at him as we enter and he smiles back. "Ciao"
"Order anything you like" I say, sitting at the table and he happily looks through the things, picking out the pastries and foods he wanted. "Are you not getting anything?"
"I'm full, I'll have water tho" I lean back against the chair and watch as he nods, getting water for me.
"Thank you" I smile before the elderly guy brings out the food and Matteo sits on the chair beside mine, eating. "Are you really nit going to eat?" He asks and I shake my head. "Then I'm paying myself" he points his finger at me and before I could speak up, my phone rings, making me pick up.
"I'm at the cafe across the bookstore" I speak up and hear 'oh's' come through the phone before Xavier and Uncle Antonio walk in, along with Axel and Felix this time.
"Whose the kid?" Uncle Antonio asks as he sits next to him and Xavier sits in front of Antonio.
Axel sits in front of him and Felix In front of him.
"My friend" "Her friend"
Matteo and I say at the same time before chuckling and the guys look at Matteo for a whole minute before shrugging and ordering food for themselves as well.
"Are you not eating?" Felix asks and I smile at him.
"I ate with Matteo before you guys came in" Matteo looks up at that before silently going back to eating, not saying anything about it, which I was grateful for.
