(A/N: for some reason i like to write stories set in the rain? idk)

this story takes place after the episode Lies

It was a warm summer's day, but Kagami's heart was icy cold. She had just broken up with Adrien, and although she was known for being strong, she couldn't help but let a few tears escape.

Had she loved Adrien? She had, of course. But the problem was that he didn't really love her back, always making excuses. She was sick of it.

She crossed the bridge, sobbing a little as she neared Andre's icecream bar.

....

On the other side of the bridge was Marinette. The girl who would always be called just a friend by the person she loved. What was the point to love him anymore, just to keep being friendzoned. She too hung her head as she walked up the bridge towards Andre's.

...

Two girls heartbroken by the same person, searching for love. On the right hand side of the bridge, Marinette spotted Kagami and waved at her. Kagami smiled. Marinette could bring the bright side to any situation.

"H-hey Kagami," said Marinette shyly. Marinette couldn't help but be slightly intimidated by Kagami. She was beautiful yet cold, like a beautifully engraved sword, that could be admired from afar, but dangerous when wielded up close.

"Hey Marinette." said Kagami. She couldn't explain her sudden change of mood whenever she was around Marinette. She was always so bubbly and yes, at times annoying, but she always managed to make her smile.

"Ah, what can I get for you two lovebirds, huh?" asked Andre, smiling at the pair. Marinette was about to protest that they were in fact just friends, but was surprised to hear Kagami say: "Just an icecream to share please."

Andre scooped some ice cream into a cone and inserted two spoons. "Lemon for the bitter memories of the past, strawberry for the sweet days to come and chocolate for new, blossoming love."

The two girls blushed at the same time. They thanked Andre and took their icecream just as it started to rain. "Hang on," said Marinette, she pulled out a pink umbrella from her bag. In her haste, she had knocked out one of the spoons in the icecream. "It's alright," said Kagami, "we can share." Marinette suddenly became flustered. But why was she blushing around Kagami, didn't she love Adrien?

Marinette opened up her umbrella and held it up to shield them against the relentless rain. The umbrella was only meant for one person to use, so they had to huddle up close to avoid getting wet. They laughed as they took turns eating the icecream, racing across Paris under their pink umbrella as the rain thickened and grew.

"Let's go to my bakery," said Marinette smiling. They had finished their icecream and were now sitting beneath a large oak tree, the rain seeping through the leaves and splattering on their umbrella. "Okay," said Kagami, smiling up at Marinette.

She had realised that maybe there really could be more to her than just her clumsy side. She was funny and generous and kind. And her eyes. God, her eyes were more beautiful than anything she had ever seen. They were the colour of the ocean around the edges but if you looked more closely, they were the colour of the sky. She felt like she was flying as Marinette held her hands and ran across the puddles in the cobblestoned streets. With Marinette, she could be free.

...

Marinette was laughing. For the first time in a week, someone had made her laugh. She looked at her and Kagami's intertwined hands and noticed how the warmth of her touch travelled all the way to her heart. Kagami made her feel special. She didn't care if her clothes were soaked through, she didn't mind sharing her umbrella with her if it meant being closer together. She loved her company, and just for a moment, instead of imagining herself with Adrien, she imagined herself with Kagami.

Still they raced on, the rain finally getting the better of them, soaking them from head to toe. They stopped for a moment to rest. Kagami looked at Marinette, to see a strand of hair sticking to her face. Smiling, she gently moved it behind her ears. Marinette blushed at the skin contact. The rain was even heavier than before, and the temperature grew colder. Kagami shivered. "We should get going." Marinette held out her hand to lift Kagami up.

She reopened her pink umbrella. "We're already wet," said Kagami, pointing at her umbrella. "I know, but I like sharing an umbrella with you." said Marinette. They ran across the streets together once more. They felt happy. Adrien was just a distant memory, and now they had each other.

Finally, they arrived in front of the bakery door. Marinette reluctantly let go of Kagami's hand. She reached out to open the door for her, but Kagami stopped her. "Aren't you coming in?" asked Marinette. "I can't," sighed Kagami, " I've got a fencing class." Marinette frowned, "how come everyone I love has to go to fencing class?" she asked. Kagami stopped. "You love me?" Marinette searched for words, she didn't know if she loved Kagami yet, but she definitely liked her. More than just a friend. "Maybe a little bit," said Marinette blushing.

Kagami dropped the pink umbrella and leant forward, and nervously kissed her on the cheek. "I maybe kinda love you too." Marinette's face grew warm where she had kissed her. "K-keep the umbrella." she said, " you'll need it on your way home."

"Thanks Marinette." said Kagami, trying to hide her smile as she turned away.

The sky began to clear, but still, Kagami kept her pink umbrella and her heart open.

(A/N: k this was really nice to write. marigami is like my second ship after adrienette and I felt like literally if adrien doesn't work out, these two are made for each other. also the ending is kinda cringy but I suck at writing endings so yeah. I'll probably be updating tomorrow:))
