For the next few weeks, Kevin and Kara continued to see each other and bonded while watching the rest of the Indiana Jones movies. They watched Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull respectively. Kara liked those films just as much as the first film, and she was even willing to give Kingdom of the Crystal Skull some love. As Kevin and Kara bonded, they got closer and more intimate. Sometimes they would hang out while Kara was in her Supergirl outfit. Kara even let Kevin give her a foot massage on occasion. Soon Kevin had come to the conclusion that he was in love with Kara. It was the afternoon when Kevin decided to go downstairs to the Batcave to see if his father was there. Bruce was of course there, writing a file regarding a new metahuman on the Batcomputer.

Kevin cleared his throat and asked, "hey Dad...? Can I tell you something important?" Bruce looked at his son and replied, "of course you can Kevin. I may be committed to being Batman, but I'll always be there to talk to you when you need help as your father, and give you any advice you need." Kevin sighed in relief, "well that's good. So the important thing..." He breathed in and closed his eyes and then quickly said, "I'm in love with Supergirl, I mean, Kara!" He breathed out and opened one eye, wondering how Bruce would react. But Bruce remained neutral, pondering, taking his time to think of what to say to his son. It reminded him of the conflict he had when he was with Andrea, wondering whether he wanted to settle down with her, or carry the promise he made for his parents. "I didn't count on being happy..."

Kevin's voice brought Bruce back to reality as he asked, "you're not mad that I'm in love with Kara, are you, Dad...?" Bruce stood up and said, "why would I be mad at you, Kevin? You love whoever you want. You're a grown adult, and I don't control or dictate who you love. Yes, I am very wary of Kryptonians and true, I may not see eye-to-eye with Clark on occasion due to our differing ideologies, but at the end of the day, deep down I respect Clark, and who you love, whether they be human, metahuman, or alien, that's your choice. All that matters is your happiness." Kevin smiled and said, "I'm glad you don't disapprove." Bruce gently put his hands on Kevin's shoulders in a fatherly manner and said, "I'm happy for you, son. Have you told your mother?" Kevin shook his head and said, "I haven't, not yet. I wanted you to be the first to know." Bruce dryly chuckled, "I can understand why. I do appreciate that you reached out to me for advice."

"How should I tell her?" Kevin asked. "A cell phone would be a little shallow," said Bruce, "when it comes to intimacy, the best thing to do when admitting your romantic feelings for someone is by telling them face to face. And it doesn't hurt to tell that person the qualities you like in them. And be honest. A good relationship isn't built on lies. You benefit from knowing Kara is Supergirl, and she benefits from not having to hide facts from you since you know. And if you're serious about wanting to be with this woman, stay committed. Don't make the same mistakes your mother and I made and never take the ones you love for granted. You never know when you might lose them." Kevin nodded and said, "thanks for the advice Dad. I'll take all that to heart. I think I'm gonna go to Metropolis and tell Kara I love her." Bruce nodded and said, "good." As Kevin left the Batcave, Bruce pondered how long it would be until he became a grandfather.

Kevin then took the one o'clock bus to Metropolis. It would take the bus 2 hours and 47 minutes to get from Gotham City to Metropolis. Kevin waited as he rode the bus. During that time he decided to call his mom. Andrea picked up and asked in a teasing manner, "what do I owe the pleasure of this phone call from my favorite son?" Kevin smiled and said, "hey Mom, you know that Kara girl I've been telling you about?" Andrea replied on the phone, "you mean that pretty blonde girl you've been showing those Indiana Jones movies to? She's friends with Barbara, right?" Kevin nodded and replied, "that's the one. I already told Dad this, and I wanted to tell you next. Mom, I'm in love with Kara Kent!" There was silence for a few moments. And then she squealed in excitement, "my little boy's all grown up and in love!!! I'm so happy for you, Kevin! Have you told her?" Kevin shook his head and replied, "not yet. I'm on a bus to Metropolis. I hope I'll see her there. Then I'll tell her my feelings for her."

"Very good to hear," said Andrea, "I'd certainly like to meet Kara and your friend Robin Warner some time." Kevin smiled and said, "me too Mom." Andrea then said, "well, I better get going. Be safe out there, okay? I love you Kevin." Kevin replied, "I love you too Mom. Buh-bye." Andrea replied, "bye..." And that's when Andrea hung up. If there's one thing Kevin appreciated, it was his mother's support. An hour later, the bus stopped at Metropolis. Kevin thanked the driver and then wandered around this city. If Gotham was like a cross between New Jersey and Chicago, Metropolis was like a cross between Bellevue and New York. Kevin couldn't help but be amazed by the sites such as the Daily Planet globe, Schuster Hall, the Jules Verne Extra-Terrestrial Museum, and a statue of Superman. Kevin kept on looking up, hoping that maybe Supergirl would be flying around the city. But then Kevin unintentionally made a wrong turn, and he accidentally wound up in Suicide Slum. Kevin realized he made a mistake once he felt the back of his neck meet a switchblade. "Well look what we have here. Fresh meat," said a smug stranger, "do as I say, or else you're a dead man, newbie. Turn around, arms up." Kevin did a sign of the cross, and then he raised his arms up in surrender, turning around to see four hoodlum thieves, residents of the poverty and crime ridden street in Metropolis. "Welcome to Suicide Square," said the thug, "you wanna explore? It's gonna cost ya."

"Look guys, I'm not looking for any trouble..." Kevin said in a non-hostile manner. "Well now ya got trouble!" The thug snapped. "Look, I'm just here to meet a girl," reasoned Kevin. The second thug laughed, "ain't we all?" The ringleader glared and hissed, "shut the hell up, Donny!" He then brought the blade to Kevin's throat and threatened, "give us your wallet, or else we'll rearrange your face!" Kevin fearfully looked at the thief and said, "okay... Please... You don't have to do this..." The thief raised his switchblade and said, "wrong answer, pal!" But before he could do anything to harm Kevin, the thief's switchblade got hot and the blade melted like butter. He looked confused, and then a familiar feminine voice said, "why don't you boys pick on someone your own size?" Kevin let out a breath he was holding in. It was Supergirl! "I got you," she assured Kevin. "You got me? Who's got you?" Kevin joked. The ringleader growled, "you bitch! That was my favorite knife!" He was ready to punch Supergirl in the face when the Kryptonian flicked him in the nose, pushing him back several feet while knocking him out. "You kiss your mother with that mouth?" Supergirl scolded, "anyone else want to try?" Donny, the second thug, shook his head and nervously said, "nope, we're good!" Donny and the other two thugs ran away while getting their unconscious ringleader. Kevin then called out, "yeah that's right, y'all go home and rethink your lives!" He looked at Supergirl and said, "thanks Supergirl. I didn't want to cause any trouble." Supergirl chuckled, "you're certainly in the wrong side of town, Kev. Although, I am glad to see you."

"I'm glad to see you too Kara," said Kevin. "What brings a guy like you to Metropolis?" Kara asked. "I mostly wanted to see you," admitted Kevin. Kara couldn't help but beam. "And I wanted to tell you something," said Kevin. "What is it Kevin? Maybe you could tell me in a safer part of Metropolis," suggested Kara, "or maybe my apartment." Kevin nodded and said, "that sounds like a better idea. We gonna fly on over there?" Kara giggled, "you bet." She picked up Kevin, and started flying. They were several feet into the air. But suddenly, Kara and Kevin could feel a strong breeze that was making them go backwards. Kara could feel her hair and cape blowing backwards. "What's going on?" Kevin asked, confused. They turned around, and they saw what looked to be some sort of dark violet portal getting bigger and more powerful every second! "Must be from the portal machine at S.T.A.R. Labs," said Kara, "I'll try and get us out of here, the portal should eventually dissipate, I hope..." Supergirl tried flying away, but to no avail. The portal then sucked Kevin and Kara inside! Kevin and Kara were falling inside a vortex as they screamed in confusion and terror! It was like something out of a science fiction story! Kevin held on to Kara, frightened that the vortex would separate him from Kara. And Kara felt the same vulnerability that she felt when she was in the rocketship while watching Krypton die. But she wouldn't lose Kevin. Where they were going, Kevin and Kara both did not know...
