A Worried Mini

Mini suddenly realised that Neil was nowhere to be seen. She turned around only to see him gone too far.

Mini: Neil!

Isha: Mini, listen...

Mini: Leave my hand!

She ran behind him. They reached home. Dadu, Biji and Arya were already waiting for them.

Arya: Veer Balika, Neil! Kahan gaye the tum dono? Neil, tum mere liye surprise plan kar rahe the naa...do din se yahi bol rahe ho! Batao na kya surprise hai?

Neil didn't respond.

Arya: Bolo naa Neil!

Mini: Arya, iss bare mein baad mein baat karte hain. Abhi tum ander jaao.

Arta: Baad mein kyun, mujhe abhi batao!

Mini: Arya bola naa baad mein karenge baat. Samajh nahi nahi aati!

Arya ran towards her room, crying.

Dadu: Neil, kya hua aaj court mein?

Mini: Dadu! (She signalled him not to ask anything)

Neil went into his room without saying anything.

Mini: Dadu- Biji, main fresh hoke aati hoon.

Biji: Ruk Mini. Fresh tu baad mein ho jaio. Pehle mere sath baith.

Mini: Kya hua hai Biji?

Biji: Yeh toh tu bata naa, ki kya hua hai! Arya ko bhi daant ke bhej dia ander. Neil se baat nahi karne di. Baat kya hai?

Dadu: Haan Mini. Agar iss Neil ki wajah se court mein tujhse koi pareshani huyi hai toh mujhe bata, main baat karunga isse.

Mini: Nahi Dadu! Aap kyun har baar us par shakk karte ho? I know aap dono mujhe lekar protective ho par uske liye Neil se kyun naraz hain aap. Aur Neil ki wajah se kuch nahi hua hai mujhe.

Biji: Toh hua kya hai? Tum dono ke chehre par yeh tension kyun hai?

Mini told everything to Dadu and Biji while Naeem Bi, Preet and Bobby also came.

Naeem Bi: Allah Maari, keede pade us par, allah ki maar pade. Kis tarah ki aurat hai yeh! Itne saalo se apni beti ko Neil ki beti batati aayi aur Neil, usne maan bhi li yeh baat!

Mini: Kaise na maanta, Dadi Amma. Jaisa bhi tha ek rishta tha Isha aur Neil ka. Khair, ab jo hua so hua. Important yeh nahi hai ki Isha ne kya kia. Important fihaal Neil hai! Woh ander se puri tarah toot chuka hai. Mujhe yeh baat aaj pata chali hai, main itne shock mein hoon. Usey toh do din se pata hai!

Preet: Do din se kaise?

Mini: Preet tujhe yaad hai parso raat ko jab woh der se aaya tha, kaise khoya khoya sa lag raha tha. Aaj samajh aaya ki kyun do din se aise behave kar raha hai woh.

Dadu: Toh jab usey pata lag gaya tha tab kyun nahi batayi usne yeh baat?

Mini: Kaise batata Dadu, aur kya batata? Woh khud hi senses mein nahi tha. Shukar karo ki uss raat ko ghar wapas aa gaya. (She took a deep sigh of relief and kept her left hand on her forehead, resting her elbow on sofa arm)

Bobby: Mini, usey thoda time dena chahiye. Sab theek ho jaega.

Biji: Mini, abhi tu Arya ke paas jaa. Naraz baithi hai tujhse.

Mini: Haan, usey bhi batana padega.

She went to Arya's room and cutely apologized for her mistake. Arya's heart melted after looking at her sister's cute face. They both hugged each other and Mini told everything to Arya about Neil's past (of course, in a way it should be told)

Arya: Ab kya hoga Veer Balika? Neil bohot sad hai naa, hume uske liye kuch karna chahiye!

Mini: Hmm, sad toh woh hai. Par chhutanki, tumhare iss chhote se dimaag mein kya chal raha hai?

Arya: ☺️ Mujhe pata hai usko kaise khush karna hai!

Mini: Acha ji, kaise?

Arya: Tum usey I love you bol do. Dekhna, woh khush ho jaega.

Mini: Hey matarani! Kahan se aate hain tumhare paas aise ideas. (Changing the topic) Ch...chalo ab bahar, Rani didi chai bana rahi hain sab ke liye. Tumhare liye doodh garam ho raha hai.

Arya chuckled and went out.

Mini (to self): Woh kaise khush hoga, Arya! Mujhe nahi pata ki yeh baat main usey kabhi bata bhi paaungi ya nahi. Mujhe toh yeh bhi nahi pata ki woh kya chahta hai!

Preet: Toh pata laga na!

Mini (turning around): Tu kab aayi?

Preet: Jab tu khud se baatein kar rahi thi. Mini, jo tujhe nahi dikh raha na woh Arya ko bhi pata hai. Aur Arya hi kyun, sab ko pata hai ki sirf tu hi nahi, Neil bhi tujhse pyar karta hai.

Mini: Please Preet, tu phir se shuru mat ho jaaio ab. Waise bhi, this is not the right time to talk about all this.

Later at night, Mini was in her room when Arya came there.

Arya: Veer Balika, chalo na dinner karte hain. Bhookh lagi hai mujhe!

Mini: Haan...acha Arya! Neil abhi apne room mein hi hai?

Arya nodded her head in affirmative. They went out for dinner. Mini heated the food cooked by Rani, they both had dinner together. Later she took one plate for Neil. Neil was sitting on his bed while resting his head on his knees. Mini came and sat beside him. Neil realised her presence and looked at her. His eyes were swollen red. Anybody could see that he had been crying. After a short pause, he hugged her all of a sudden. Mini was taken a back but hugged him back. The moment she touched him made her realise that he had fever.

Mini (breaking the hug): Neil, tumhe toh bukhar hai. Main thermometer lati hoon.

Neil: Mini jaane ki zaroorat nahi hai, mere drawer mein hoga.

Mini searched for the thermometer in the drawer but also saw her name written on some paper.

Mini (in mind): Yeh kya hai? Is par toh mera naam hai! (She took the paper, kept it a side and gave the thermometer to Neil)

After some time...

Mini: Neil, fever zyada toh nahi hai par khana kha ke medicine le lena. Tum khana kha lo main medicine lati hoon. (While leaving, she took the paper from his room)

Arya came there before Mini could leave.

Arya: Kahan bhage jaa rahi ho, Veer Balika? (Whispering) Tumne bata dia Neil ko?

Mini: Chup kar chhutanki! Neil ko fever hai, main dawai le kar aati hoon.

She went to her room, kept the letter in her drawer and went back to his room with medicines. The moment she entered his room, she was surprised to see Neil and Arya having a good time together. Neil, for once completely forgot his problem and was enjoying with Arya. Mini smiled looking at them.

Arya: Neil, tum naa sad mat hona ab. Aise smile karte huye bade achhe lagte ho!

Neil: Okay chhoti madam! Thank you, I'm actually feeling much better now 😊

Arya: Hum sab tumhare sath hain. Veer Balika kehti hai na, we are in it together!

Mini: Haan, dadi amma! Chalo ab, Neil ko rest karne do, aur tumne homework nahi kia naa aaj!

Arya: Offo, tum har time homework aur school ki baat hi karti ho! (She left)

Mini: Neil, yeh medicine le lo, and take some rest now.

Neil nodded and took the medicine. Mini was about to leave when Neil held her little finger.

Neil: Mini, thodi der ruk jaao, please!

Mini smiled and nodded her head. She sat beside him on the bed.
